That's what I was thinking.....does anyone know what the relative costs are for setup and maintenance of a bubble vs. a permanent structure?
You're not missing anything... The content there is either stolen or they jump the gun to break the news and are often wrong... Don't waste your money... I did and regret it

Disagree. They break more stories than anyone. While the conversation here is better they scoop every other site. I think it's because they are young......
Fwiw it's a pretty slow board. Had it and canceled. There's good info sometimes but not close to the activity of RT.
My problem was more with the amount of coverage than lots of wrong info. Most of the wrong info comes from posters like you know who with the bank and others.
I saw Scout had an offer of 9.95 for nine months. Was tempted but have never heArd much good about them and I didn't want to get caught up in some autorenew loop. They must be struggling to have that offer at the biggest time of year.
In Gainsville Florida it cost them $17 million. So if we apply the 25% "Jersey" premium I'd say about $22 million.

There's more than enough hot air here to get it blown up. Then it will be blown out of proportion. $$$$
I'd add more to it, as it would need to be built to handle the very reason that the bubble collapsed/was deflated: the weight of the snow on the roof. I would think building codes for that sort of thing are much stricter up here.
Also, I think the insurance/liability costs would be significantly higher if it's considered a permanent structure, which I believe the bubble is not.

Building codes in the northeast take into account higher Dead Loads from snow accumulation on the roofs on structures, but in Florida and the southeast in general new structures must be designed to withstand significant lateral Live Loads from more frequent higher-category hurricane-force winds. Unless irregularly shaped similar to the existing Bubble, a permanent structure with the footprint of a football field and tall enough to serve as a practice facility has large amounts of roof surface area for snow to accumulate on, as well as large wall surface area exposed to high winds.
the photo must have been taken before it collapsed. Rutgers confirmed it collapsed, and suffered a tear...so couldn't have been re-inflated.
Rutgers hopes to fix it this week.
I remember when the Metrodome collapsed before a Giants/Vikings game. I was in Vegas at Bally's and had already put $100 on the Giants. They didn't refund the tickets and said they would honor the bets and send the winnings by mail. When the giants ultimately won I only received my bet back, not my winnings. BASTARDS!
