With this victory the off season will be one of relief and optimism.

No dark cloud to live with for months. Sure, some 'what if's' but what season doesn't have those.

Onward and upward!

HNY!
Ohio St now has some what ifs as in what if their really good field goal kicker would have made that one against Indy in the Big Champ game and made one right before he half yesterday.

In yesterday's game that missed FG made it so Miami could play a couple of possessions with a 17 -14 lead

KF stated he needed to clarify what he said about next season. It seemed to me he wants to return and is healthy but needed to see what direction the program was headed from above him at the U of I and what was best for his family. Am I missing something here?

Found the Kirk comment very interesting and don't know what to make of it. IMO Kirk deserves props for overcoming the sting of the Brian firing and putting the program on a really solid footing as he nears retirement.

Perhaps the power structure at Iowa has let Kirk know he needs to think about making the transition to retirement. Maybe they want to do it with the program sitting at a good place. Makes for interesting speculation no matter what.

I had to google it because I was not sure. Sometime in the post game news conference.
Here’s the quote:
But I do want to go back and set the record straight, because I was asked that question at that press conference, and I said, yeah, I plan on being back. Then all of a sudden it looked like I made a proclamation, I’ll be back. I never made a proclamation, for the record. I did answer the question. Yeah, I’ll be back for next season. I think my sights were a little further down the road than next season, but powers that be will decide that.

I feel great and enjoy what I’m doing. You get to work with the people I work with on a daily basis and our staff — you know, I’m trying to keep our marriage together, too — so I think all those things combined all work out.

I think Kirk will coach 1 or 2 more seasons and retire in June where they will have no choice but to give Wallace a chance at being a HC. If that happens, oh well... things could go worse.

It also confused me. If I had to guess (emphasis on the word guess), he may have been told that he would not get extended after his contract expires in 2029 no matter what. He would be 74 at that point, so it would make sense for the university to draw a line in the sand so to speak.
