The botched punt return call ultimately decided the game

Just a terrible, terrible call and I can't wait to see the useless apology letter we get from the SEC office this week. Leach should take a fine and blast the officiating crew for it in his press conference.

When you look back though, here's what we're gonna see:

- silly, needless turnover returned for TD
- six straight offensive series with no points against a defense that gave up 50 points and 700 yards to **** Tech last week.
- turning the ball over on downs at the two yard line with questionable playcalling on both third and fourth downs.
- Tulu Griffin, your most electric weapon, doesn't get touches all day
- Too many check downs
- Too many penalties
- A QB that just can't command this offense

How in the blue 17 do we look like **** and check down all day with WRs open all over the field against their shitshow of a defense, and then suddenly drop two long dimes for our last TD against their "no big plays" defense? Someone needs to grab Will by the collar and tell him to nut up and start taking some shots downfield.

We probably win this game if the refs don't botch that call on the punt. But it's our own damn fault that we put ourselves in position for that to happen. We should have been up by three TDs. We had almost double yards offensively, dominated time of possession, and our defense only allowed 14 points.

Rather we ultimately win or lose, it’s pretty clear we have major, major issues on offense. I’m not so sure there is a huge difference in how MSU fans should feel about the long term outlook of the program at 3-0 compared to 2-1.

It really felt like our offense came out after halftime and thought they could just lazily win the ball game. They are an immature team and it showed. Lack of focus and execution for most of the game minus the very beginning and end.

They have to grow up and quick. The SEC is coming.

There is an element of there being a lack of focus and execution for sure, but leaning on these checkdowns and short routes so heavily is the root of the problem. Rogers is operating under the illusion that he is making the safe plays, but a 1 or 2 yard completion might as well be an incomplete pass anyway, and even a 20-yard INT is not that much worse than a punt.

Every WR downfield is not going to be wide open, but they are open enough. They have shown they can make plays. Take a shot. Make a throw. The only time our offense is watchable is when we are losing, and that is a problem.

I've got no problem with Leach going for it on 4th down inside the 5. I do have problems with a defense that played well for most of the game for giving up a 99 yard TD drive and with a Leach offense not scoring from 1st and goal from the 2.

I can understand thst a coach doesn't have a clear view of every part of every play.

Truth. Rogers being timid is a huge reason for our struggles. We hit on a high percentage of big plays today but didn’t take many shots. We had 2 on the last drive alone and scored in 2 plays.

If they don’t figure it out soon we’ll get smoked in the SEC.
