The Basketball team underrated?

The Mountaineers opponents so far have been weak. Which IMO will lead "talking heads" to underrate this team. Unlike those fools I believe we are looking at a possible Elite 8 or better Mountaineer team.

Meh. I'm not ready to rate them after big wins over not-that-good teams.

Hardly. WVU is picked to finish 2nd to Kansas -- Kansas! -- in the Big 12. That's already serious attention.

WVU basketball is ranked #19 before the season started. Hardly being ignored.
And with Illinois and Temple or Florida State and Manhattan in the NIT season tipoff, WVU will get plenty of attention if Press Virginia keeps getting 20 or more turnovers every game.
And then there's the Big 12 schedule, with Kansas a national power every year and a Big 12 champ nearly every season.
Patience.

We'll know more on Sunday when they play New Hampshire who just won at Temple. They are a solid team and will be a good team to get us ready for Illinois. Thus far though, this team is exciting and explosive. So much athleticism on the court and Dax hasn't even suited up yet who is pretty damn athletic himself.

After watching tonight's game. I'm impressed and really think this team will achieve but I think your right about New Hampshire being a little tougher competition. We should get a better gauge on this teams capabilities.

Lot of young guys on this team but none of them look lost, all of them look athletic, chemistry looks good, veterans are playing like veterans, and lots of depth. Even though the games have been blowouts, I like what I see and they have Huggins telling them that they don't impress him much. This is all good.

I think we belong in the 25-30 range for the season.... a bunch of role players, but no star until someone emerges.

This is a team that could go 12-6 in the B12 or just as easily go 8-10

This team will get considerably better late in the season.


Konate is a beat.

Beetle is barely a year from ACL surgery. He'll be much better a month from now.
