Put the tennis rackets away baby it's time for RU basketballApparently this promoter really hates Paul Taglibue.
Wants to show him he’s wrong.
Minny was booked for that date.

Then play at MSG.What if the UBS promoter will pay us three times what MSG is willing to pay?
Well I partially agree with your sentiment. Then play at MSG.
Also, why as fans would any of us care how much money Rutgers will be paid? It’s like we are supposed to be excited about having USC and UCLA joining the conference so Rutgers will get more TV money when all of our competitors will be getting the same money boost and we’ll have two more league teams to compete with. Dan Wetzel of Yahoo Sports and the excellent College Football Enquirer podcast always expresses his amazement at how fans have somehow been conned into rooting for money even when it has no positive impact on the program and often has a negative impact on chances of winning (with conference expansion the most obvious example).
It’s a neutral site. That’s how you improve the resume. I would definitely go to that game if vs UCONN.Seriously, we're in NJ, and a large percentage of our season ticket holders live in the Central Jersey area. They're not going to Long Island to see a game.
We play in the Big Ten. That’s our competition. More revenue for the Big Ten is not going to help us beat other Big Ten teams.. We may have nicer facilities than some less valuable conferences but that’s not going to help us beat Ohio State and USC. We play 9 conference football games and 20 conference basketball games (plus conference tournament). Those conference teams are the ones we need to beat to be successful. Even if USC and UCLA and the rest of the Big Ten were equally good in all sports we will have reduced our chances of winning a conference title by 14% just by adding them. (And obviously they are NOT average athletic programs). But Pat Hobbs will have more money in his budget. Whoopdeedamdoo.Well I partially agree with your sentiment.
One reason to cheer for the conference revenue piece is it seems apparent that the gap between the top 60 or so football schools and the rest is going to be pretty dramatic in the near future. We’re on the high end of that revenue gap.
As for caring that RU gets paid huge money to play a game in Long Island…. in the next couple years I think every million matters as we’re coming from a pretty big revenue and facilities deficit. In another 10 years a bigger payday in this type of situation should mean very little (but I’m sure it will for whatever reason).
Well, the one positive with that it does make correcting a mistake a little easier. We play in the Big Ten. That’s our competition. This is what we signed up for . Not just willingly , but enthusiastically . Stop complainingWe play in the Big Ten. That’s our competition. Sure, I would rather us play at MSG, but Rutgers cares more about the $$ than what I desire. Then play at MSG.

I’m just wondering why people are rooting for money at the expense of winning. Makes no sense. I want to win. I’m not getting any cash for USC joining the Big Ten or Rutgers playing in god forsaken Long Island. This is what we signed up for . Not just willingly , but enthusiastically . Stop complaining
St John's needs to draw about 10K to break even there.IIRC MSG last year cost $250K plus concessions to rent the arena...
Not sure how it works for college basketball...
Has anyone confirmed this is definitely happening during basketball season? It's gonna suck for wrestling to be at The Barn all season, if so.Well with the upcoming 1 year RAC shutdown, lets do both !
No one has confirmed anything yet. And I can’t see why we would willingly give up our huge RAC home court advantage for a whole season.Has anyone confirmed this is definitely happening during basketball season? It's gonna suck for wrestling to be at The Barn all season, if so.
AgreedNo one has confirmed anything yet. And I can’t see why we would give up our RAC home court advantage for a whole season. We can do the renovation AND play at the RAC. Other schools have done it. Why not us?
Also what Pike said so good to hear. Thanks!I was at the jets game today with my buddy who has deep connections with the athletics department. I asked him about this today again to see if he’s heard anything and he said he’s still hearing that there’s hope they can renovate while still playing. He mentioned that is the preference of the school, jersey mikes, and a few others. He also said that at this moment he hasn’t even heard of any timeline or details about the plan.
