Leach’s days are over. His refusal to run the ball between the tackles is what will be the downfall of him.

The brilliance of his scheme is that every team (minus LSU) will drop 8 and rush 3. The QBs will literally only have to prepare for 1 defense.

The ignorance of Leach is that he won’t do anything to force the defense into playing a 4th DL. Thus opening up some more field for WRs to work with.

He pissed away more games he should have won at WSU than won games he shouldn't have. All because of his refusal to run the ball. Or just piss poor coaching.

The defense will take away the deep ball and the WR screens. They don't have to worry about stopping the run cause there are no run plays. What is left??? Crossing routes with 8 guys in the way and the back out of the backfield. You are a two pass concept offense with 0 run game. This isn't guru stuff.

If your back is catching a ton of balls that is exactly what the DC wants. Better to have the back with 15 catches than the WRs with 15 more grabs further downfield.

Arkansas won after 3 years of losing. Kentucky held him scoreless. Unless he slams the back into the line of scrimmage to force the defense to defend both run and pass, it’s over.

My prediction??? You go 1-4 the next 5 games and fire Leach midseason. If the Kentucky defense keeps his offense scoreless, what do Bama, Auburn, Georgia and A&M do??? Hell, even Vandy thinks they have a shot.

The one thing I dont understand about Leach is the lack of TE or FB play in his system. If the defense lines up with three down linemen, shift your TE from out wide and gain an extra blocker. They bring the 4th DL in and you split him back out. They cant exactly run a line man on or off the field to adjust before the snap once everyone is set. (This is based off my understanding that Leach never uses TEs... if he does ignore the above completely.)

As a WSU fan I don’t hate Leach. He did a tremendous job digging WSU out of the hole it was in.

He took WSU as far as he could. When it came time to take another step, he refused to do what had to be done. What was that??? Run the ball to take the heat off his passing game. Run the ball to make defenses be honest. Run the ball and force defenses out of rush 3, drop 8.

He lost to 2 FCS schools. He lost to Colorado State. He lost probably 5 games last season that he shouldn’t have, including one to Air Force where his offense couldn’t come up with more than 21 points against a service academy defense.

As much as his offense can take 3 star kids and beat 4 star kids.... a well coached defense of 2 star kids can beat his 3 star kids...

The version of the Air Raid he runs is over. The blueprint is out on how to beat it. Unless he changes, WSU essentially bought low and sold high. You got the guy on the way down. Unless he decides to pound the rock up the middle and force teams to defend the run. Then you’ve got a winner.

Again, Kentucky held your team scoreless. You have Bama, Auburn, Georgia and A&M in 4 of the next 5 weeks. Which of those are you gonna beat???

I don't feel like Kentucky held our Dawgs scoreless as much as we did it to ourselves with six turnovers. State had nearly double the yardage, 18 first downs to 10, and held the ball for ten minutes longer than the Bluecats. The team's performance was so much sharper against LSU than it was the past two weeks. I do believe that Coach Leach is a strategist. He will survey the chess board and find a solution.

It is a QB centric scheme. If the QB is having a big day, prob gonna win. If the QB is having a bad day, prob get your doors blown off. Leach could use the run game to help a new QB, hard no.

Leach either adapts and evolves his offense or you are gonna struggle.

So it looks like struggle is the answer.

I felt like Leach was coaching like a guy on his way out last season. The rumor was that he spent 5 months of the year in Key West. The #1 wide receiver prospect in the state was on campus and he was out of town. Kid signed with Ohio State if memory serves. Maybe taking a SEC job lights his fire again, who knows.

Imo, the guy to hire is the guy that’s the next Mike Leach. The guy that takes the air raid and moves it forward.

It will be interesting to see the posts here after the next 5 games.
