Last year Northwestern beat that team 94-63.
#13 West Virginia beat them 107-66.
Michigan State beat them 100-53.
Indiana 85-52.
#2 Gonzaga 97-63.
#16 iowa State 88-60.

This was obviously a team we should beat handily but 106-37 is LEGIT.

MVSU plays at Texas Tech next. It's hard to compare scores this early, but if they stay within 30 of Texas Tech, that might mean something. Bottom line: I think my Kappa Sig intramural team could have hung with MVSU.

I agree that you can't base too much off of this win but a win of this much separation shouldn't be overlooked no matter who it's against.
Who knows how good we will really be but this was still impressive.

Last night's game is irrelevant in the long run. Need to beat Seton Hall, Creighton, and Oklahoma State to boost our resume. If we could somehow beat Clemson on the road, that would be huge as well.

The Big Ten should be strong enough this year, where if we just have a winning conference record and win a couple non-conference games against Power 5 schools, we should get in the tournament.

MVSU may be the worst D1 school out there. I wish Nebraska wouldn't schedule teams that will be down there in the 300s in RPI, it only hurts us. That said it was fun seeing our end of the bench getting some playing time where they can actually run plays and score.

Yes it should be overlooked. Last night's game told us nothing other than we played a ****** team. There isn't much difference between beating a bad team by 40 or by 70. It's just if players are left in longer or if the other team still had a little fight left in them. There's very little difference in what the scores should tell you.

Comparing routs is goofy.

That made me laugh. And you're not wrong, but at the same time, I can't remember Nebrasketball winning exhibitions in that kind of fashion before. Those are the kinds of scores that only baller programs tend to put up this time of year.

(*insert favorite Nebrasketball disclaimer that warns against high expectations here*)

I'm with you, man. No one is saying bring on Duke after this game, but that score is a serious eye-popper. If it were easy to win a game by 69 points, you would see teams do it with regularity. That spread is basically the basketball equivalent of the baseball team beating Chicago State 50-3.

For additional perspective, NU closed the first half with a PBA record (tie) 55 points and equally impressive 13 points given up (also tied PBA record). If this is any indication of the team's hunger level, that's a very good sign.

Well said. It seems if somebody points out anything positive on here they assume you're proclaiming greatness. That's not what I mean. this was a good sign though and certainly a huge confidence booster which goes a long way in a momentum sport like college basketball.

It's also a sign that this team won't wait for certain moments or certain games to "turn it on." If they display that sort of effort and general precision in every game, they'll be a tough out even against the best competition.

Look at it this way, MVSU may be a terrible team, but it helped us to get kinks out in the offense as it helped with shooting the ball and 3pt shots. We shot 75% from the floor and 41% from downtown.
