I finally had a chance to watch the entire game, and I was so impressed with how the UNL training staff jumped out to help the two Iowa players were injured on big hits. Safety of these young men is of utmost importance. They were right there, no hesitation and no questions asked. Impressive level of sportsmanship.

I'm no EMT, but I suspect in a possible neck injury it is very important to keep the injured person lying flat with his helmet on until he can be stabilized. Probably why they jumped over to make sure he stayed down and immobile. That concern transcends what color jersey the guy has on. Thanks for noticing, I noticed it at the time too.

The Iowa player was kind of pushing people away, kind of saying "I'm ok, I'm ok." He was out on his feet and probably doesn't remember that at all. That was a heat seeking missile shot he took on that play.

At the game one can never tell for sure and a targeting call is always met with disapproval when it goes against one's team. However, on dvr you could see the Nebraska trainer running on the field on Gerry's play almost before it was blown dead. If you have ever been on the field the sound of collisions is incredible. Once seeing the trainer, he clearly knew what that sound meant regardless how slow and how many replays were shown. That said, in no way was it malicious...bad break
