I still think Skal is getting robbed on some pitiful foul calls...he can be running side to side next to someone, and they throw their shoulder into his chest...whistle...sit down. The problem is, Murray can do the same on offense, and it's not a foul on the defense. Drives u crazy. Totally inconsistent.

Yes, they did, and Willis had a damn good game and was able to give UK some of that. He played very well, did his job and what is expected of him. That's where it ends.

He didn't have some spectacular game or single handily win the game that warrants a personal thank you, nor does he deserves to be put on a pedestal above the rest of the team.

what a clown...........can't you give the kid props or are you one of the Willis haters

Willis wasn't just a defensive player today. He was a defensive stopper. Maybe that should be offensive stopper. Key plays at key moments. People in this thread suggesting compliments for him are dissing efforts of our other players might note other threads about other players. Cool as a cucumber at the foul line when it really mattered, Willis. And that matters, people. Essential to the comeback by plenty.

wouldn't say he was a defensive stopper, as he got beat a few times, as did everyone else, but he had a good game

Sure, you're right. Willis deserves a personal thank you thread started in his honor and to be put up on a pedestal above the rest of the team for doing his job, things that other players do on a nightly basis.

I agree, he had a very good game, never said he didn't. He also played a big part in the comeback, but the Willis cheerleading that goes on on this board is a bit much. It's as if nothing else matters as long as Willis gets his minutes and/or plays well. Some of these guys are bigger Willis fans than they are UK fans.
No more than the Ulis or Murray lets stop that too. Way too many the threads on here about them do well. Really Willis isn't doing his job hes doing skal's. Willis job was to ride the pine. Its crazy how some of ***** about a UK fan Loving a Kentucky boy Uk player. WTF.

This is a UK board after all. A thread congratulating a player shouldn't be met with so much suspicion lol.

Willis is solid now though. I thought I would see a single digit scoring game from him in the boxscore but nope. 4 blocks!

Not meaning to start a war, but I don't understand these Willis threads. He's playing great and we all know that. There aren't near as many haters now as there were. Is it because he's a KY boy? Why does there have to be a Willis appreciation thread after every game?

Why wouldn't there be a thread praising him?

I'm just confused, I guess.

Willis had 7 rebounds. Alex , Lee , and Skal had 3 combined. We needed SOMEONE to rebound and it's not exactly Derricks strong suit , but he did it .You gotta have some sort of agenda to not appreciate what he did .

That's just it. They did do their job, and they do it every single night. Murray just broke Delk's three point record and the single season freshman scoring record in the same game. He has also scored 20+ points in the last 13 games, and is easily playing like the best player in the country, yet no one seems to care.

I don't see a single appreciation thread thanking him and putting him up on a pedestal above the rest of the team. Everyone is too busy fawning over Willis like he just played the bestest, most greatest game ever. Like I said, the Willis cheerleading on this board is hyperbolic and over the top. I guess it's because he is from Kentucky and Murray isn't. Just makes no sense to me.

This^^^

Is there any other player, upon receiving a compliment, that ALWAYS has -someone- rushing to post something that tries to knock it down a peg or two?

Willis did great. I'm happy for him. We will need him for the NCAAT... and, yes, all of the rest of the guys, too.:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I just opened this thread so I can id all of the fanboi's.[roll]

Yes, praising players is fine, but IMHO, the Willis defending isn't necessary any more.

I'm still confused. This is a thread praising Willis. No one tried to defend him until someone claimed that he didn't deserve his own appreciation thread.

I'm not saying it's undeserved. It just seems like there are more Willis appreciation threads than others, whether he's being defended directly or not. It's been that way all season.

Fair enough. Luckily, I haven't waded into this mess at any point until tonight. I just found it odd to see people criticizing their fellow fans for giving props to one of our players after he brought it and contributed to a big win.

It's probably time for everyone to move beyond that battle. It's tournament time.

Well, this time, it probably had as much to do with his road back from the ankle injury, as anything else... similar to posts that were happy to see Poy back on the floor, a few games ago. I'm guessing that's not "the reason" you were thinking of, though.

It's not that hard--- Willis has shown that he is a key part of this Cats team. People had heard or read the comments from Willis' Dad before the game... so, being a little worried/paranoid about his recovery, I'd say most of us were glad to see that Willis had a nice game, even though he is not at 100%. It's just encouraging... that's all.

I'm just glad we have a very solid core - Willis, Hawk, Matthews, Humphries, Wynyard, and perhaps Briscoe and/or Lee coming back next year to go with the great freshman class we have coming in. Those guys are all rock solid.

JMO but you've taken a simple thread lets say just for the heck of it created by Willis super fans. Nothing wrong with that, everyone has favorites. What would have been short thread with a group of like thinking people enjoying his performance has turned into a two page pissing match. You've brought more attention to him (which you seem to be against) than the OP did.

That has been happening the last 8 games or so.

When Humphries comes in it is even worse.

Even if that is true, why pick a thread that is not really what you are railing about? It is the typical post game thread for players that did well. Maybe you need a Snickers.

Willis played one hell of a game, thats a fact. He has had to work hard for his minutes and his acclaim. He is sort of an underdog compared to the others. When he plays like he did today I will brag on him, you better believe it. Hit the ignore button if you don't like it.

I see threads started about practically every player on the team . Don't see why it bothers you . I do know that if a kid from my county was doing well playing basketball at UK there would be a lot of people posting threads about it on this site. Don't see why that's hard to understand. You are making yourself look like a guy that Willis dunked on and trash talked in high school . Or maybe he stole your girlfriend ?

Also, for me, I like his story this season. To go from being buried on the bench to making the most of an unfortunate situation (Poythress injury) to become a dependable weapon on a team with some shortcomings.

Willis looked more like himself today. He is coming along nicely from being back that injury. He is a key player to a run, just like Poy is, Briscoe, Hawkins, Skal, and Lee. We need our role players to support Murray and Ulis. Great game today by Willis.
