All of you excited over Zac Taylor need to make sure to thank Bill Callahan for giving anyone a reason to talk about Nebraska football in 2022

I’m sure it was in part loyalty but I believe Zac said that Nebraska was making a mistake getting rid of Callahan

Bill Callahan 27-22 with a title game
Scott Frost 15-27
Hey if Scott goes undefeated he can match Bill’s win total 😂

I'm probably alone on this but I still believe that if Callahan had fired Cosgrove after year 2 or 3, he would've been around longer and been wildly successful.

He would have needed TOs support and I don't think that was in the cards...

He sucked this board overwhelmingly wanted him gone.
This board has shown they literally don’t know **** about football there’s a reason we’re all here crying at each other instead of actually doing something football related with their life. This board wanted Frost too 😂

And this board overwhelmingly wanted Pelini and Frost. The board also liked Moos. Just a hunch here, but this board is not always right. But then, given enough opportunities, it will eventually be right.

I was fine with Pelini.

Just wanted him to.make adjustments from a bottom line where we won 9 games a year.

Well he did good in recruiting and Zac in particular. BUT he was also horrible as a college coach (although compared to recent years not quite as horrible as he appeared at the time). Remember his DC Cosgrove? Like most people Callahan did some good things and some bad things.

In retrospective. Callahan might have been here longer if not for being unable to fire his DC. He hauled in top 10 classes.

I'd rather take BillyC over Smiley, and Bo Peep.

If you could have merged the strengths of Callahan and Pelini, we would have really had something.

Over the course of our football demise, our primary problems can be categorized as:
Coaching : Frost/Riley
Recruiting : Solich
Crappy assistants : Frost, Callahan, Pelini
Personality : Pelini, Callahan
Administration : Perlman, TO, Pederson, Eichorst, Moos

Looking at that, the continuous problem has really been a dysfunctional administration. The turning point being Byrne leaving after the retiring-TO stole his right as AD. And TO didn’t shine as AD either. Maybe Trev can put an end to the administration being a detriment to success.

On the flip side, TO and Perlman get a little credit for getting us into the B1G. In an alternate reality, our long term viability might look very bleak.

Also, Solich got the rawest deal of all of those coaches.

Yes TO extended Bo. But he hated Harvey. Perlman ******* sucks so much ***. HP is responsible for our decline and he's happy for it

Better yet the 77-10 humiliating from texas tech. only thing he did right was calling Oklahoma freaking hillbillys. Callahan was a ***, he didn’t want the job but took it anyway

In each category, I tried to list from most offensive to least offensive, but still responsible enough to be part of the problem. I listed Harvey #1 worst perpetrator in the admin category, and he deserves it by country mile. I listed TO #2 for originating the whole problem with Byrne, and he gets some tarnish for Pederson eventually becoming AD. And he didn’t redeem himself when he was the AD.

Not sure anyone could/would disagree but that's basically what got him fired. O was good enough. D was nonexistent a lot

When Byrne left and the homegrown Steve Pederson who had cut his teeth at NU, Ohio State, Tennessee and Pitt was brought in, my reaction was this is how good programs operate. Man, I couldn't have been more wrong - its largely been an administration debacle since that hire in 2002.

At a blue blood program you can’t retain a coach who in 4 years managed to have 2 losing seasons unless you have simply decided the best course of action is to surrender and quietly live out your remaining days by cashing fat conference payouts. …. especially if you know the fan base will be satiated by simply reliving tales of glory from decades past

The university and "whole state" wanted him gone, but Zac Taylor the former Husker QB that is about to play for a Super Bowl thought it was a mistake. Who are you siding with there, Katie? The university? Blindly? The same university that hired Bill Moos and allowed him to extend Frost and Hoiberg for a zillion dollars?

I do believe they should bring Zac Taylor back for the spring game. I also believe they should extend the olive branch to Bill Callahan and bring him back for the spring game so Scott Frost can personally apologize to him in front of the crowd at halftime.

We all love Zac but hes wrong to think Callahan should have returned. Osborne et al were not wrong to fire him and yes they have been wrong about a lot of other things. Bring ing Zac back for the spring game would be great
