Why are we arguing.. From Solich to Riley the Huskers FAILED, period. Solich did okay when he still had Osborne coaches and Osborne recuits then he failed as did every coach so far following him. Let's just hope Frost turns it back around..

Dual credit: Riley for recruiting, Frost (and Held) for unleashing him from the doghouse. Special circumstance in this case.

Osborne wiffed on both Solich and Pelini. Osborne's picks sucked. I don't care how much you don't like Callahan or Riley. That doesn't change the fact that Osborne made the wrong choice and it affected a once great program where someone else had to take a chance on Callahan and Riley.

No one had to take a chance on Callahan or Riley. If you're going to fire a coach who's winning 9 or 10 games a year, you better have someone lined up that's better than those two.

He was just a freshman under Callahan. It was Callahan who recruited him to Nebraska. I won’t give Pelini any credit for Callahan’s recruits.

That's just stupid. A lot of those guys would have done nothing in Callahan's system. Just look at how big of a jump Larry Asante made in 1 year. Zack Bowman sucked when he played here but he was an NFL cornerback. Guys like Dennard, Amukamara, Hagg, and Gomes wouldn't be nearly as successful if they weren't in Pelini's system and they certainly wouldn't have amounted to much in a Cosgrove defense.

I doubt we will ever know the real story of how Bill Callahan ever ended up at Nebraska. We all know the supposed story of Steve Pederson having some big name coach back out on him at the last minute after firing Frankie and then everything went haywire. I actually gave a sigh of relief when they announced BC was coming to NU, only a year or so from his Super Bowl appearance. Sounded a heck of a lot better than some guy named Houston Nutt.

Who was to know he would pay no attention to Husker history or traditions.

distinctly remember the Ball State game. It was 41-40. I thought we were going to lose that one.

I did forget about the NU-CU game, though. By that point Callahan was a dead man walking. I do seem to recall him throwing in Ganz at some point (KSU game maybe) and the offense actually sparked. But, it was too late by then. Half the defense had given up already. I seem to remember the OSU game being the beginning of the end.

I don't really recall many good offensive performances against good teams, though. The Michigan and A&M wins are the only ones I can think of.

Callahan's hand was forced to play Ganz due to Sam Keller breaking his collarbone. Otherwise I don't think Ganz sees the field. Callahan was ride or die with Keller.

I just sat back and watched all the ranting and raving about Callahan and laughed. Some of you guys absolutely hate the man and refuse to give him any credit at all. Dude was a bad hire for us...agreed. His offense wasn’t horrible...not even close. His biggest down fall was not replacing Cosgrove. If he had, and brought in an elite DC...he’d been fine. Callahan would have landed Blaine Gabbert and that offense would of token off. I’m more then sure he’d jumped back into the NFL regardless so it doesn’t matter but the plus side is....we’d had a roster full of NFL talent for the next Head Coach.
