Maybe. Plenty of mediocre coaches have gone to a final four their first year and then never again

If Texas is favored over UCONN I am mortgaging my house and putting it on UCONN.
He’s had a mediocre coaching career. Might be some reasonable doubts about his ability to run all aspects of the program long term.
Seeing what UConn has been doing to all their opponent’s they haven’t even been in a close game yet!
Texas can shoot the ball well enough to beat them but UCONN wins that game 8 out of 10 times so Texas will need a Villanova-esque performance. Big East was murder this year. I had an inkling as I had two Big East teams in my FF in UCONN and Marquette but I have UCONN losing to Texas and Marquette of course lost early and I had them winning it all.
UCONN and Texas (assuming this score holds up) are the only two FF teams I got correct as the other side was toast for everyone obviously.
UConn has been unstoppable but we all know everyone has a bad night. Who knows.

So maybe it was a good thing they didn't hire the guy yet. Blew a big lead to not make it to the Final Four. His coaching record is pretty mediocre before this one season. He took over for Beard with a championship caliber team and blew it. We have a guy that's won a championship Texas. Come and get him.
