Thanks for the breakdown on the Red Raiders, Jim. I didn't know about the two transfers. I saw Ramsey play in the Whataburger Tournament here in FW, and he is a stud.

He is some good information on Lubbock:

Ha! I hadn't seen that one before. Not entirely untrue although Lubbock has grown quite a bit. Was a great place to drink beer, have fun with coeds and go to the occasional class though. Always have a blast when I make it back there.

So not at KU? I have mixed feelings. UK/KU is college basketball royalty as Jim Nance once said on an April night in 2012. But change is good. Off to the high plains of Texas we go. Can’t hurt to get some exposure in a recruiting rich state. And a I knew a girl once who got her masters there. She left a favorable impression on me of TT.

This will be the most talented and athletic team Texas Tech has ever had by a significant margin. Chris Beard has done a fantastic job of reloading and bringing in guys that fit his system. This will be a mentally and physically tough team. The big question mark will be how quickly do they become a cohesive unit and gel, and when do they collectively get over the experience hump.

We have only 3 returning players from last years roster, one of which sat out the entire season injured. They may gel quickly. They may gel midsesson after a rocky start. They may never gel (though I highly doubt that based on having Chris Beard as a coach, and all of the offseason reports already coming out). Though obviously bias, despite losing an incredible amount for the second year in a row, based on what we know today, the expectation for Tech fans is that this will likely be a top 10 team at the end of the season.

Really excited to get Kentucky this year. As a sports fan, it’s always awesome to watch a team with such an incredible tradition and high level of play year in and year out. Hope to see a few of you in Lubbock!

Cheers!

Cool, I just posted about how I would like to see us go to TT this year instead of KU who we play every year in the thread about the home schedule. A bit off-topic, but something I was thinking about. They should be ranked and pretty good plus it's a tough place to play. I liked it when we played at WVU. That game moved the needle it's just nice to mix it u with different foes some years. Of course now if KU starts of well we will have to hear from their obnoxious fans for a while without having a shot at them. Only drawback.

From living in Texas for over 35 years I've met a lot of Tech grads and they are generally nice people. Only time I really recall their fan base getting worked up was when they played Texas or A&M in football. I work with quite a few of their fans and am friends outside of work with some.

Texas Tech is pre-season top 15 and they have a great coach. He had a title game team with like 3 GT’s and a 3* player who they coached up (Culver) and now went top 10 in the draft. I don’t think anyone should be chalking this up as a “fairly easy” win in the middle of the summer.
Agree, Beard is a good coach and I'm sure that we'll get their best game regardless, especially at Lubbock.

In my experience there are generally nice people everywhere in this country, even Indiana. I once watched two get married in Terre Haute that I introduced to each other. Certainly in Texas. There used to be some animosity between Colorado and Texas but that seems to have died away as both states have been experiencing massive growth in recent years.

Also. I'd take last year's TTU team at their home over a crappy Kansas at Allen. NCAA/B12 don't give a **** about Texas Tech and they certainly aren't going to let their PG walk from half court for a buzzer beating layup..

They lost 3 of their 4 best. and another 2 of their top7, plus a transfer. Non-impact recruiting. This should be a fairly easy win.

Lol

Keep in mind that KU was without three important players, which really had more to do with their streak ending imo and the conference race wasn’t even decided until the very end. Tech will be good again but they played so well in March that it will be hard to play up to that level again. Still will be a too 10 team most likely.

We have about 7,000 less seats than you all have at Rupp and this will be the best non conference home game we have had in as long as I can remember. I am guessing tickets will be pricey. But its a great environment and there isn't a bad seat in the place. Would anticipate the crowd to be much like the Kansas game at home last year but I don't anticipate beating Kentucky by 29 points, lol. Will look much like this:

Looks like an awesome environment! Thanks for puttin' a hurting on the Jayhawks.

We did have a fortunate year in terms of staying healthy last year and Kansas did not. However, I would argue that we would have ended KUs run the year before if Evans doesn’t break his toe with 4 games to go. Part of the game though.

You gotta give Texas Tech credit for their ability to put money into their program. They aren't Texas or Texas A&M....and they aren't in a large city like Houston or TCU. They aren't a glamor school nor a blueblood...but they went for the big time and it worked.

They went out and got Bobby Knight...they got Tubby Smith after their Billy G failure to rebuild the culture. They made the right hire with Beard and now their last 15-20 years of investing in that program has paid off.

They won't take a step back at all if Corprew who was recently suspended is reinstated, would be Beards most talented team. If he's not back, just outside the top 10 is right.

I’m honestly glad, beating a blue blood team means nothing in November and December plus it always seem to reverse on you in the big dance in March.

Keep in mind I’m just telling people to temper expectations and not get ahead of themselves, has nothing to do with what KU fans say or don’t say happened. Do I think Tech will be good? Of course. But they also caught a huge break is all I’m saying.

I created an account just to say that I am a fellow resident of Keller as well.
I live off Heritage Trace on the West side of I-35. May as well be Keller since the city limits are just across the highway. Used to live in the Bursey Ranch Addition until my ex and I got divorced years ago.

I am over near Keller Town Center.
Unreal how Keller has grown over the past 20 years or so. I'm actually in the Fort Worth city limits but it may as well be Keller since it's just across the highway. Just about everything I do is in Keller, i.e., shopping, Hitter's Edge, YMCA, etc.

Same. I essentially am around Keller, Roanoke and Southlake.

First UK game I ever listened to was the Runts playing TT, in 1965 I guess it was, the year Texas Western beat us. Glad to see us playing a different team, Kansas was getting old.

Finally. Live less than 2 hours from Lubbock.

Surprised to see all the comments about Keller. Lived there for several years in the early 90s. Daughter graduated HS there. Son lives in northeast Ft Worth which is closer to downtown Keller than downtown Ft Worth.
