Well if we go on to beat them in the NCAAs and grab a National championship, fine with me.:)

I know a guy that still clings to that game, and even tried to tell the story in front of two other friends who aren't really into College basketball. I cut him off and said, "he's about to tell you about the time they beat us in the regular season, stormed the court, ran over our players, spit on our fans and then lost to us in the tournament while we were on our way to winning it all." He was SEETHING. The two guys laughed.

I’m sure it’ll be a rowdy environment, and we could lose, but I don’t think any fan base will behave like iu did that game. They were pure asshats that game.

I agree. They'd storm the court, but there's no hate and venom. But make no mistake, Lubbock is NASTY when they play Texas. Their fans have it in them to go insane.

Also. I'd take last year's TTU team at their home over a crappy Kansas at Allen. NCAA/B12 don't give a **** about Texas Tech and they certainly aren't going to let their PG walk from half court for a buzzer beating layup..

They lost 3 of their 4 best. and another 2 of their top7, plus a transfer. Non-impact recruiting. This should be a fairly easy win.

Don't think Kansas is crappy this season. Winning at Lubbock will be easier than winning in Lawrence...

So I more meant that I would take @TTU over @KU, even if TTU was a better team, simply for the home court nonsense.

TTU really doesn't look to be any sort of threat this year. Lost a lot, 18th ranked class coming in, no impact guys. I think Kentucky handles them.

Texas Tech is pre-season top 15 and they have a great coach. He had a title game team with like 3 GT’s and a 3* player who they coached up (Culver) and now went top 10 in the draft. I don’t think anyone should be chalking this up as a “fairly easy” win in the middle of the summer.

I find them nearly everyday here in Indy.

Yes, we will kick their @ss. Kansas is getting boring every year. I get very bored watching that rag head moving back and forth during the game. They are cheaters way below our standards.

6-4 SEC. UK, Florida, A&M, Auburn, Alabama, Arkansas. Maybe switch LSU for Bama. Those 2 games I see as the toss up games. But Texas will be a tough out at Texas. If it was @ LSU it would be a easier pick. Bama at home against K State, Bama is at home is the only reason i think they can win.

Who do they return?

There's a reason why this went unanswered because no one could name you a player returning. Culver is gone. Owens and Mooney are gone. They lost a transfer and graduated like 2 or 3 other guys who were in their top 7.

That amazes me, and I'm willing to bet they don't stay in the top15. Chris Beard might be the nest great coach. Or, he was a flash in the pan. I think he'll be somewhere in between.. which is pretty much where guys like Smart, Marshall and Stevens wound up: Good, but largely because of one team.

And I certainly wouldn't expect Beard to make a habit out of turning 3*'s into top5 picks.

I can't think of a single coach coming off a final4, that did it again a year later with a brand new team. Calipari is probably the only one to do it.

The future might be bright for Chris Beard and Texas Tech but I don't think it's next year.

But But But TT don’t have to be a final four team for this game to be a good win for UK.

Not to beat on TTU, because I was rooting for them. But pundits love to say what Kentucky lost year of year from their roster. So let's look at TTU:

Lost: Culver, Owens, Mooney, Odiase, Francis. (correct me if I'm wrong)

Lost in production (roughly): 52ppg, 22rpg, 9.5apg, 5spg, 4bpg.

Texas Tech lost roughly 70% of their production, give or take depending on the stat. And they don't have a top5 class coming in to pick up the slack.

Define easy. If you think we will win by 20+, you're wrong. You are correct that they will likely take a step back this year. They have three recruits coming in that will likely start. Ramsey probably would have been Mr. Basketball in Texas this year, if they had such an honor. Maxey is ranked higher in the recruiting rankings, but Ramsey is a 5* and his team won the Texas 6A State Championship. I think a good goal for Tech this year will be making the Tournament. I would put the spread as of right this moment at UK by 4.

TTU fan here. Excited about this announcement and looking forward to seeing many of you in Lubbock. I expect we will be a preseason 10-15 but believe we will be in the top 10 by the time we play. We did lose a ton (similar to what we lost after 2017-18) but also reloaded with some nice transfers once again. Our defense will still be top 1-5 and the crowd will be out of control. Hopefully it will be a night game so we can host all those who make the trip to some Texas bbq and beers before tip off. Can't wait. Wreck'em!

Edit: For those who were asking, the two main returners that will see significant playing time are Davide Moretti (Jr) who is currently playing with Italy's world cup team and Kyler Edwards (So) who gave us some huge minutes last year as a freshman and went 4 for 5 from the field for 12pts in that loss against Virginia. There is also a question mark on Deshawn Corprew (So). He would be our best returning defender but has been suspended and I am not sure how that will shake out.

Beyond that we have grad transfers Chris Clarke and TJ Holyfield who everyone close to the team cant stop talking about. Then we have Jahmius Ramsey coming in as a freshman who was mentioned above and is an expected starter. Those are the highlights. Lots of new guys but I think Beard will have them ready in time to give you all a good game.

If I can get good seats for a decent price I might make the trip
We have about 7,000 less seats than you all have at Rupp and this will be the best non conference home game we have had in as long as I can remember. I am guessing tickets will be pricey. But its a great environment and there isn't a bad seat in the place. Would anticipate the crowd to be much like the Kansas game at home last year but I don't anticipate beating Kentucky by 29 points, lol. Will look much like this:
