The one thing that a lot don't realize is that West Texas has a booming economy right now. Hard to find a hotel room in places like Midland and Odessa for under $400 a night and that's at Holiday Inn Express.

Kinda hard to believe a university would sanction something like that, lots of liability issues plus just a bad image for the school. But, hey, it's in Texas so who knows.
This is just what I was thinking. I mean, sure, it goes on likely on every campus before games. But the school and the team is sponsoring this? Imagine someone gets in a car and gets a DUI, gets into a wreck and kills themselves or someone else, some underage students end up drinking, students end up getting in a fight at the game. It's not like these things never happen when you mix college students and alcohol. I just can't believe someone on the faculty or administration hasn't put a stop to this.

False. I just checked my Hilton app. Threw some random dates in there. Never did I get a rate over 300. The ones available ranged from $170ish - $255ish

Texas Tech is inviting trouble and not worried about one thing, except beating Kentucky, rules, they don't need no stinking rules.

ok, I didn’t think this could be true...

I find this unbelievable a college would do this.
My first reaction when seeing it yesterday was this will turn into Bloomington 2.0. Granted, I doubt TT fans are as obnoxious as iu fans, but having free beer at 10 am is just asking for something bad.

Hopefully the beer runs out quick, the students riot, and we play in a half empty gym tomorrow night.

WTF? They must've had a run on the banks last night, because I can get a room today for a $100. Less if I use Hotwire.

Ok but lets me honest, giving out free beer to your student body is a terrible look and can only lead to bad things.

You'd think teams would wisen up. Seems to be a bad idea to put all your energy into beating a non-rival. Did OSU not teach them anything?

They aint beating us...

We are battle tested..
We are battled tested on the road
This will be our 4th road game in last 6 games
Texas Tech is trending downward having lost 6 over all and 3 of its last 5
UK is trending upward having won 2 straight and 6 of 7
TTech is small, playing a 4 guard lineup ala Arkansas and we saw what happened in that one, UK should own the glass

The one thing TTech has going for them is homecourt advantage and they just squandered that with the stupid free beer promo...

Cats win

Don't do this to yourself. There is no reason to EXPECT a kentucky win.

Hostile environment, you know the fouls won't be great, Beard is a top-notch coach, and we still made a LOT of mistakes the last few games. Particularly, Hagans, who I still don't really trust yet. Yeah he may have 16 and 7... but how many turnovers? How many bad shots? Will he still try to take the defense on by himself?

I have confidence in this team based on the last 7 games. Yes we lost at Jr after a miracle shot but it took that and the Refs breaking it off in UK.
Teams that are small are going to struggle v UK because we start 3 guards anyway and have size down low.

There will be plenty of those seniors and juniors fetching beers for the younger ones. If they start drinking at 10:00. They’ll be passed out or puking themselves by gametime.
Not the “real” drinkers. Lol
My last great college binge was a Saturday... started early had case of bud light and washed it down with makers later.
Didn’t die, pass out, or even puke... I did some really, really dumb **** that day and night. Very lucky not to get hurt or be arrested on multiple charges.
But, instead I got up at 10am and drove to Colombia for my summer job.
During the drive, I had my epiphany... that was way too much to drink and still be functioning the next morning.
And thanked God for not letting me get myself or others in serious trouble.
I cut back a lot, a whole lot- a ton lot——on my drinking after that.

Promoting Underage drinking is not cool. Could be interesting...
It's amazing what a few bottles of "loudmouth" will do for some young college students. I feel sorry for the small number of UK fans that are actually in that arena tomorrow. "Stay thirsty my friends"
