Sorsby, coveted portal QB won a ruling in a Lubbock court that will allow him to play this year for TT.

Nosh Shannon lost his last season of eligibility after betting once on a women's game

Sorsby bet hundreds of times on college fb including his own team. He continued to bet after securing his 7 million transfer fee to TT.

He went to great lengths to hide his gambling from the NCAA.

Now,a local judge gives him a pass?
Not right.
No student athlete will worry bout rules..no rules.

So Sorsby can bet $90,000, most of it on/against the teams he was on, claim a mental health issue, and get a 2 game suspension?

So I guess if someone gets a DUI, they can just claim a mental health issue (alcohol addiction) and should be able to get off, even if they kill someone in the process? What about domestic abusers? Can they now claim a mental health issue (anger management/anxiety) and not be punished anymore for beating the **** out of their spouses? Where does it end?

And frankly, given this ruling, you'd be an absolute idiot to ever bet on college sports ever again as a fan because the integrity of any game is no longer guaranteed.

I didn’t realize he bet on his own games. I would guess there’s going to be plenty of lawsuits coming if Sorsby does play.

Another example of rules and laws not equally applying to wealthy institutions and individuals.

Didn't Noah Shannon lose his senior season for placing a small wager on the woman's basketball championship? And was only caught because of a warrantless and unconstitutional FBI electronic geolocation search?

Now we're going to let a kid play who was placing bets on his own team? Why does the NCAA even exist at this point? Let's stop pretending these are still amateur athletics.

Local judge who's a fan and likely got paid under the table. Iowa always does things the right way, and they suffer for it.

College sports are an absolute joke. Everyone can bet and there's no punishment. Why even take them seriously anymore?
Like the Bama judge that ruled the G league player was to be allowed back on Bamas roster

It's called legislating from the bench. Bad and hypocritical as Sorsby and his agent are, the judge should be banished from the bench AND the bar. No more law license, end of story.

"A Texas judge granted Sorsby a preliminary injunction Monday that prevents the NCAA from punishing him for violating its rules its sports gambling."
A Texas judge doesn't have authority over a national organization. An extended injunction might allow Sorsby to play in games in Texas--or at least in Lubbock--but wouldn't apply anywhere else. The NCAA ban could remain in effect for road games, unless the NCAA voluntarily suspends it.

Federal court is the proper venue for this case.

The NCAA isn't a federal organization, the Texas judge absolutely can exert his authority over them. He is eligible for all games except the 2 games he offered to be suspended for.

Congress needs to pass that Save College Sports Act and give the NCAA some antitrust exemptions so they can enforce their own punishments, this is ridiculous.

It was already ridiculous but this is an entirely new level.
The NCAA still wouldn't dole out these punishments equally. We all ready know that to be true. Would Michigan, OSU, get the same slap as Iowa. You know the answer already....

The Iowa & Clown U athletes should have sued, just like Sorsby did. The NCAA eventually either loses or gives up.

The NCAA isn't "federal," but it is national, operating throughout the country, and it is based in Indiana. A Texas judge has no authority over what any organization does outside of state borders, especially one based in another state.

Hell let's challenge wins and losses.

Iowa loses to Ohio State. Challenge it in court citing the undue emotional stress that it caused, and let's see if we can get the loss thrown out/overturned via the government.

That's where we're heading at this rate............
