Seems like yesterday when Texas hired Strong to replace Mack Brown. Strong was the 'hottest' young coach on the radar and was quickly labeled 'sure bet' with the resources available at UT.

'Most' think that this talk is to 'get in on' the sweepstakes to compete with LSU for Houston's Tom Herman. Texas would join LSU and Baylor without coaches for 2017. What began as a 'slow' year for CFB coaches is evolving to a 'dynamic' year. While nothing is certain beyond those three schools, there is plenty of 'unhappy' fans talking. With each 'fire' there is a corresponding 'hire' and it seems to be heating up. While much still to happen in the final 8-10 weeks, many others are on somewhat of a 'hotseat' like ..

I think you can take Stoops off that list. His buyout is like 13M and they don't care enough about football to pay him that much to not coach.
