They're down 11 now but plenty of time to come back. Question. Barnes has always been a good recruiter but their seasons normally flame out to one extent or another. Is he just a mediocre/bad coach, a bad motivator, can't mesh players together as a team, X and Os,;;;?

He is an awful coach that looks like he is going to take his name out of the Texas head coaching job.

He has 5 guys on that roster who should each have 10 points by now on a team like Butler.

He failed to get past the Sweet Sixteen with freaking Kevin Durant on his roster.

What do you think????

He must have naked pictures of their AD or something.

Texas doesn't care at all about basketball. Nobody will even blink if they lose.

Apparently the team doesn't care either. As bad as the Big 12 was this year Texas should have cakewalked.

I know he is not going anywhere, but how does he get so much talent and never has anything to show for it.

I don't think that's entirely true. I think that the Texas alums have had their fill of over-recruiting and under-performing that Rick Barnes does on a yearly basis. My son graduated from there, and he's had ENOUGH.

Football will ALWAYS be their numero uno sport, but to see what Barnes promises vs what he delivers is astonishing.

Did you hear the commentators in their game talking about Barnes saying it's a player's tournament, not about Xs and Os.

Guess that's why he's had no success. He doesn't realize he has to coach, which is a perfect approach for him anyway, since he can't!

I live down here in the land of flat and hot. Rumor has it that Barnes will retire whenever UT get knocked out. Just talk though

What coach has done less with more than Barnes? Texas is a hotbed for talent and he can't coach for crap.

Actually, he didn't make it TO the Sweet Sixteen with the team that had the Durantula... and D.J. Augustin, Damion James, and Dexter Pittman. 4 NBA players, and they couldn't get out of the Round of 32.

DeLoss Dodds is no longer the AD at Texas. Word is we've seen the last of Barnes in burnt orange.

He's got to be on his way out...no way they keep him around...

past few years have been sorry...his tenure overall have been less than spectacular...

No excuse for Texas to not be a perennial sweet 16 or better program...too big, too rich, well known brand around the nation, and has a massive fan and alumni base...

he doesn't have to leave the state to recruit...how hard can it be to get a Texas kid to stay in Texas?
