We should have same bench, since A&M was visitor in game 1, we have been home team twice.

Game is 3:30 pm. Same time as football game vs Mich State. Ugh. !

CJ Wilcher - ex Nebraska player- plays for A&M.
I wonder if the Wilcher family made the trip out to Nevada… if so you will probably hear his screaming banshee mother even over the TV broadcast. She was the most annoying fan at the RAC over the last 10 years, and that includes the idiot that sits behind me and never shuts up, and is never right 😂

Not sure if I follow the logic, I thought they would determine the home team based upon results. I believe the end RU was at first two games was the Home team end. Both A&M and RU are 3 seeds but not sure which was ahead of the other for Home team purposes, if that’s even how it works, not sure.

Isn’t CJ like 40 years old at this point?

I would guess point differential decided it?

Ranked team, a few days off.
Dylan and now Ace will be confident, can’t explain to you the importance of confidence.

Dylan’s had a slow start last night and still was able to dominate.

A win against T AM will catapult this team into a legit top half of the B1G team… easy NCAA qualifier
,
Zap, couldn't agree more on confidence. If you have talent & ability, confidence is the other key ingredient. Confidence allows you to play loose.

7th in the nation in rebounding but they are not exactly a great offensive team and they dont shoot free throws all that well.

RU is going to get killed on the boards..thats a given. We have strengths though. We have the 2 best shotmakers on the court and if we can force turnovers and extra possessions that will put us in position to win

Looks like the most physical team we have played

They blew a 10 point lead with under 10 minutes left vs Oregon and lost by 10...a 20 point

If they went 1-3 then we still lose (lost by 5).
Also, if they shot 25% on Tuesday night we lose (We won by 1).

The point is expecting 3pt shooting to get better with Williams and Derkack taking them isn't a good strategy.
True for both, but Derkack especially. There’s a reason he got more open looks than anyone. That’s who the D wants to shoot.

Everyone keeps harping on rebounding, but causing a lot of turnovers is just as good as rebounding. Not to say we don’t need to get better. At least against Alabama we were contesting rebounds. Some of the other games we weren’t within 10 feet of the ball on rebound attempts.

The match-up between RU and Texas A&M is an interesting one. I have no idea how to handicap it, except of course, RU will be and should be the underdog.

Still, here are some contrasts:

1) Texas A&M has 3 freshmen on their roster, but none have played a single minute. They play 10 players 11 mpg or more, none more than 29 mpg, 6 players 21 mpg or more ... ALL TEN players who play are Juniors, Seniors or Graduate students ... all of them. 5 of their top 6 players in mpg are Seniors or Grad students. RU has veterans, but RU's top 2 players and top 2 in mpg are true Freshmen, and 4 of RU's top 6 players by mpg are Juniors or freshmen (Harper, Bailey and Sommerville as frosh and Derkack as a Junior) ... and RU's starting center is a Junior (not Senior). Only 4 of RU's top 10 players in mpg are Seniors or Grad Students.

2) Texas A&M, in a small sample size of 7 games, is a ferocious rebounding team - and RU is ... not. A&M has almost as many offensive rebounds as their opponents have defensive rebounds (129 offensive rebounds, to their opponents 154 defensive rebounds) - that is ridiculously good, IMO. That represents A&M getting 45% of their own missed shots ... crazy good. RU, FYI, RU's offensive rebounds represent 29% of its own missed shots. A&M allows its opponents to grab 29% of their own missed shots ... RU allows opponents to grab 32% of their own missed shots (For RU, not a huge difference, for A&M a hugely advantageous difference).

3) FT%: A&M shoots 67% FT, while RU shoots 74% - and to RU's advantage, RU MAKES more FT than its opponents even attempt. RU only has taken about 8 more FT's in the same 7 games (about 1 per game more) than A&M, but makes many more (the right guys for RU are taking the FT's). But RU's opponents are taking 10 fewer FT's per game than RU is taking - and making just 66% of those. A&M fouls a LOT more than does RU (RU averages 15.4 fouls per game, a total of 108 - vs its opponents fouling RU ... A&M fouls 19.3 times per game (135)

Geez ... just noticed half my post disappeared .. the system has been really problematic recently ... I had other points on FG%, 3-point shooting and more in the FT paragraph that was cut off.

Not sure I can recreate that.

Biggest issue with aTm is that they are FEROCIOUS on the glass, which is a terrible matchup for our rebounding-challenged team.

The Aggies are out-rebounding their opponents a whopping 45-32, and they have four absolute DAWGS who attack the boards relentlessly.

- 6-8, 250 Henry Coleman - averages 11.3 ppg and 7 rpg (4 OREB) in just 21 minutes

- 6-7, 220 Andersson Garcia - averages 6.1 ppg and 7 rpg in 25.6 minutes

- 6-9, 250 Pharrel Payne (yes, the Minnesota transfer) - averages 6 ppg and 5 rpg in 17.6 minutes

- 6-7, 220 Solomon Washington- averages 4.9 ppg and 6.3 rpg in 21.8 minutes

This is not even counting their top two scorers, 6-4 Zhuric Phelps and 6-0 Wade Taylor, who average 4.2 rpg and 4.0 rpg, respectively.

We are going to get DESTROYED on the boards unless Pike instills a game plan to sacrifice runouts for defensive rebounding. WE MUST DEDICATE OURSELVES TO TEAM REBOUNDING.

The good news is that aTm is not a good 3-pt shooting team. They are only averaging 31.4% from deep (53-169). So we will also have to sacrifice a little perimeter defense for crashing the defensive glass once a shot goes up, and just hope the Aggies don’t get too many second-chance kickouts and have an off night from deep.
This is the exact type of game where we need Ogbole to come up big

If you emphasize everyone getting a body on someone and blocking out, then I think the opposite may be true.
Just my take based on what I’m seeing as a whole in the defensive end. We have to extend the D to stop 3. And we extend to try to force turnovers, which has been going well. But that doesn’t leave you in a good position to rebound. But we’ll see. I have a lot of faith in Pike.

Football takes a ridiculous 4 hours for about 12 minutes of real action while basketball takes 2 hours for 40 minutes of action. I know which one I am watching and which one I am taping. It will actually be easy to watch the whole basketball game while recording the football game and after hoops ends switch over to the taped beginning of the football game and forward through it. You should catch up right about on time for the end of the football game.

Agreed. I'm so sick of the interminable CFB games. Basketball is a much better watch at least until the last minute.

The 12:30 time slot works out perfectly for me.
Can check out of hotel, store the luggage, walk over to MGM, catch 2nd half of 1st game, RU game, watch end of MSU at TAP, catch 4pm game, maybe some of last game, out on Red-eye to Newark..
If we had beaten Bama, might have had to switch to midnight or later flight to JFK..
Figuring most A&M fans flew back for football..
If we don’t give too many 2nd chance points, we should win this one..
what time will you go to the bathroom ? lol geez no one cares about your itinerary.
