Maryland, a consensus B1G doormat this year by some on here, up 1 on the ROAD against Illini, 56-55 with 8 to go in the 2nd half.
Illinois was probably planning on a curb stomp.

Illinois was down 16 to Northwestern last week, and came all the way back to win the game by 16 !!
so goes the B1G. Stop with the overreactions.

We got foot stomped our last two games and lost four of our last five. I don't think most concerns were overreactions.

now thats how you steal a win on the road.....Purdue did it now Maryland, both flawed teams but they seem to have some hunger to jump up

Illinois seems to lack the eye of the tiger but their troubles are not as bad as RU's right now

Maryland was very impressive. They played so hard the entire game. Illinois made what I thought were a few terrible decisions in the last minute. They gave the game away at the end. Ayo threw up an air ball from about 10 feet and was also out of control driving left with an underhand shot. Than the point guard missed a turnout fadeaway from about 10 feet direct on. Another guy missed both foul shots with about a minute left. Maryland often triple teamed Cockburn but than closed out so quickly on 3 point shooters as well. They deserved the win. We defeated Maryland 74-60 in our BIG 10 opener but tonight they played so much better. Morsel and Scott played outstanding. The return game should be a tough game for us. Every BIG game is a war.

Maryland, without its starting PG gets some road kill. Dare I say that Turgeon out coached Underwood.

I see only 5 ranked Big 10 schools this week...3 in the top 10 and Illinois should be in the 18-20 range and Ohio State about 23

That's the only drawback in a good conference. You knock each other out of the running. Same in football. Ohio State actually benefitted this year from the B1G being down so they could dominate and go unbeaten. They never would have made the CFP as a 5-1 team.

Illinois relies on 2 freshman of their top 7 rotation players, no one else gets more than 10 minutes. Curbelo has 32 TOs in 12 games and Adam Miller has struggled with consistency against better competition after a hot start, putting more pressure on the other 5 main rotation players. Curbelo with 4 fouls and foul trouble and Miller with 3 of 9 Illinois TOs tonight.

That is true. Maryland was impressive to me last night. We definitely need to sweep at least one team and every game is so difficult. Teams are beating up other good teams every single night. Wisconsin on Friday is a huge game. I sure hope we are more healthy by than and that we play an outstanding game and can somehow get a win. That could right the ship.

Maryland made shots at Illinois. That's why they looked impressive. Even a bad offense looks good when the bean goes in the basket.

But Maryland still tried to give the game to Illinois with a 5 minute scoring drought at the end of the game.

For some reason Illinois stopped going to Cockburn in the second half.
