That's what really made the game and was so impressive by Tenn.
Tenn jumps out and puts their foot on Alabama's throat and it's somewhat "easier" playing from ahead and a position of strength. But then of course Young and Alabama do what they've done a million times and get up off the mat and come at you. Eventually, they put you in that position. That PI is one of a few times you think "oh man Tenn is gonna break," the scoop and score being the biggest of them all, but nope they didn't break. They kept coming off the mat themselves.
I heard a pod reference that famous Tyson line. "everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth" and Tenn got punched in the mouth a few times. Scoop and score was the biggest punch in the mouth but again they got off the mat and came back.
The other impressive the thing is just Heupel's mindset. It's risky at times but I think part of their identity and gets them to where they are now. There were only 15 secs on the clock when they get the ball on the last possession. How many coaches would just take a knee and got to OT. I think quite a few. Heupel always has his foot on the gas, nope we're gonna push this thing and see what we can get. They move into FG range in 12-13 secs, what a great job.
The win itself is impressive but the way it happened made it more impressive. Now the target and notoriety is on them, the next test is can they maintain it and not wither. They didn't wither in the game, now they have to prove that they won't wither over the season. It doesn't have to be a SEC title or anything, although you never know, but this seems like it should at least be a double digit regular season.
