I read how the Eagles are charging double the rent to Temple to play at their facility, now at $2 million a season. Not bad for a stadium built with help from taxpayers.

What is worse, the stadium Temple is trying to build for itself? Yeah, not gonna happen. Too many NIMBYs in North Philly.

They have had a better football team the last 5 years or so. Just killed Maryland who will very likely beat us. Really glad that we have not played them recently. Put them in the B1G and us in the the American, and they would be even better due to resources and exposure. They are doing something right and RU is doing something majorly wrong. Only football and men's basketball matter as they are the revenue sports. Let's wait until we see how we do against Buffalo before slamming them for losing to Buffalo. Buffalo is a better team than Kansas.

First, they'd never have gotten in the big precisely because of their lack of resources.

Second, I don't believe they'd be doing that much better getting ground down week after week in the B1G East. Just because they play a good OOC game against a low-level B1G team doesn't mean they'd be doing it week in and week out. And as we've seen, getting destroyed by the best teams in college football isn't a major boon to recruiting.

Do think they'd have done somewhat better, as their coaching choices have clearly been superior and they'd actually be able to shake their role as permanent coaching stepping stone. But that all goes back to not being an attractive option for a P5 conference.

Beg to differ. Football and basketball, the rest is for players, parents, niche fans, and filler content for SEC, BTN, etc., networks.
Just so you know our Wrestling team out draws Men's basketball. Over 40,000 go to view the NJ State Championships in wrestling. Is that what you call a niche sport in NJ?

I only ask this because I’m wondering what I’m missing. Granted, I’ve learned two things here over the years. Everyone here is smarter than me and our fans love to be miserable. That being said, Matt Rhule has back to back 10 win season before leaving for Baylor. In comes Geoff Collins. Year 1 he is 7-6(4-4 in conference). Year two he starts off 2-2 with losses to Buffalo and a 1AA team.
If he was an RU coach he’d be known as Kyle Flood to our fans. But since he isn’t an RU coach he’s awesome and a fantastic hire. Do I have this right?

Only because our men's basketball has been awful. Please, you lose all credibility when you compare college wrestling to college basketball. Also, this is a Rutgers board, if you want to talk HS wrestling there probably are a few boards dealing with just that subject. As for college wrestling, we have the fourth highest attendance figures in all of college wrestling at less than 5k per meet, #s 6-10 averaged about 3k, what does that tell you? It is a niche sport, actually it is a dying sport at the collegiate level, heck they almost killed it in the last Olympics for lack of interest. College football and basketball is all that matters, the rest is filler content for cable sports networks.

People somehow believe we are supposed to compete in the best division in the sport with a team with not enough players for years and a large majority young players along with not even half, not even HALF of the money that every other team we compete with gets to build facilities, splurge recruits on visits, buy better, smarter coaches, and coaching staffs. I can maybe understand the general public not understanding. But there are some supposedly big fans who continue to ignore these facts and don’t understand the timetable for them to be remedied, and expect us to be competitive with others who have much, much more than we do

You are clueless, continue living your life in your bubble of ignorance. If you knew anything about Title IX ramifications or Olympic politics you'd understand. However, it's pretty obvious you don't, so continuing a conversation with an uninformed obtuse individual such as yourself is really a fruitless act. Can't wait for your next 45 posts this year, should be as uninformed as this drivel you just presented to us.

When we are terrible and temple is good they can be better than us. The rest of the time no. Rutgers needs to take care of rutgers. We are down right now. Ok. Duh. Stop with the temple ********. Who cares. Nobody.
W
have we played them? how do you "Experts" know who's better
Well one thing for sure we will find out which direction we are moving in 2020 when we play them. We also play Monmouth that year. We will be able to see where we are as a program by comparing ourselves to Maryland, Illinois, and Minnesota in 2020 because all of the head coaches were hired the same time give or take a year.

No. But I do expect us to be competitive with Kansas.

At the end of the day you can heap personal attack upon personal attack on me but it doesn't change the fact that college wrestling is a niche sport nationally with a very small fan base. As I stated, at under 5k we have the 4th highest attendance #s in the entire sport, 6-10 average around 3k and from there it drops down into about 1k or less. There are 70 Div 1 programs left and most of those kids literally wrestle in front of crowds consisting of a hundred people or less. You simply cannot compare college wrestling to college basketball and football in any manner shape or form.
