Ted Lasso episode The Diamond Dogs

I’ve just started binging Ted Lasso. Anyone else notice there is an episode is called The Diamond Dogs?

Yeah, and it's a pretty funny one. His schtick kinda starts wearing on you as Season 2 starts off.

Love the show, but I don't know why they want me to hate Nathan now. I liked him as the lovable loser much better.

Yeah, they instantly turned him into a prick. You could tell when they added Roy to the coaching staff that it ruffled his feathers and he knew he'd be taking a back seat.

Where is the Rebecca/Sam internet dating thing going to go and why did Ted have a breakdown during the last game?

No idea, but I don't like the Ted-weakness thing either. They need to pump some life back into it soon or they'll start losing people.

These great shows start out like this...then the writers are like, "Holy 17...what do we write about now?" and it fizzles quickly. I see this happening with this show.

I certainly wouldn't call mental health issues "weakness."

What I like about this season is that it has spent some time showing that no one is perfect.

Ted is struggling with panic attacks, and is still clearly suffering after his divorce.

Nathan is doing a horrible job adjusting to fame, and has begun lashing out after being sucked in by social media.

Danny Rojas had PTSD after accidentally killing the mascot, but that one was wrapped up pretty quickly.

Roy and Keeley having some mild relationship-centric issues - co-dependency, communication, etc. (also wrapped up within a single episode)

Last season focused on the personal shortcomings of Rebecca, Jamie Tartt, both of which have been outside of the drama thus far.

That's all well and good, Doc, I was just saying that some of us dummies prefer our comedies with a little fewer depression, PTSD, and co-dependency bits. Sounds like some people enjoy that, though, which is fine.

If they decide to turn it into a full-blown psycho-drama, go for it, that's fine too. I can always go back to The Office reruns so I don't have to think so hard.

Yeah, didn't it start as just a bit on an NBC soccer broadcast or something? I don't think this character was intentionally created for a 10 year series run. But they did do a great job giving it life. Love the premise and the characters they built around it.

It was a 1-time promo from when NBC started showing Premier League games in the USA. I can't believe the series was ever made, much less has lasted this long, since it's pretty much a 1-joke premise. The original promo was hilarious
