I’ve narrowed it down and the problem is Safari. Many pages (not just SPS) take forever to load. I’ve tried disabling Mslwarebytes and it makes no difference. Pages in Chrome or Firefox Focus load instantly. But Apple doesn’t allow extensions for browsers other than Safari. So I guess options are accept the ads & potential malware or continue with Safari & accept the slow page loads. Any other suggestions?

Have you tried Brave web browser? I use it on Android and it blocks all kind of garbage.

I know I'm in the tiny minority, but I hate Apple and all their walled garden BS. It made me leave them years ago.
Is Brave safe? I loaded it & it’s quick & blocking ads. But am I at risk of other malware?
It doesn't scan files already on your device and it doesn't remove malware that's already there nor does it act as a system-wide anti-virus. It's a firewall between you and malicious scripts on the web.
So I’m probably ok then since I’ve still got MalwareBytes for the other things. If so, Brave is working great. Very fast. Still trying to figure out how to get SPS icon on the initial startup screen.
Since I’ve switched to Brave about 8 months ago, no pop ups, no issues.
Like I said in your other thread. I have it and use it almost solely for SPS. No issues in two or so years. But it's not a good search engine.
When I search using Brave, I'm able to scroll down the page after a certain number of search results are listed, and it gives me an option to do the same search with Google. You just press that link and bingo. A little inconvenient but not a deal breaker.
