Kentucky and Duke will head line the best. But teams like Mich St/Louisville/IU are top 5 preseason teams. Those 5 all season long.

Speaking of the team we lost to tonight, who is going to run the point for them next year? (I don't follow anyone's recruiting other than ours)

Kansas and Duke will probably be 1 and 2. With us and Michigan state being a toss up for 3 and 4

Kansas of course is only if a bunch of their players return

UK will be really good next year.

Problem is so will KU, MSU, Duke, and UL. Going to be a much tougher field than it was this year.

Cats can't seem to catch a break on having the best time in the right year lately.

How the hell are teams keeping all this talent and we are basically pushing them out the door? I know I'm pissed off right now, but it really makes no sense. Cal, please try to keep some talent, I honestly don't care if we have 12 players drafted per year, I want titles, not draft picks.

usual suspects...ku, unc, sparty...

Cats one of a few early favorites to make noise...if we get a surprise return or two...clear cut leader...

Duke...Kennard, Thornton, Jeter will all be first rounders some day...throw in a great haul of Giles, Jackson who might go top 10 or better and Tatum who i'm sure will get drafted down the road...and you have a squad that may be the most talented...

Aggies might make some real noise this year and should return everybody but House..they have a couple solid 4* guards coming in, and should get another good piece or two with all their momentum and success...

IU will get some love...maybe not as a favorite to go deep...but should be in the conversation as a team to watch...

SC should have another good year and be a tourney team capable of advancing...have a big center coming in don't know if he is a project or not, but 4* with a long offer sheet is a good get for them...

Villanova...will lose two good seniors...but returning 6 guys who played significant minutes in all their games...

SMU should be a favorite to make some noise again with out the probation...returning some nice experienced pieces..

Kansas should return everyone except Ellis and they'll add a top 5ish class if they finish how they're expected.

I could see Diallo and Seldon leaving too. They might as well declare this year to take advantage of the weaker draft. But I'm sure Self will do everything he can to hold them back.

If Louisville loses Onuaku..along with losing their only two major scoring threats in Lee and Lewis...I would not put them in the title talks

Robert Johnson will probably start at point with Josh Newkirk (Pitt transfer) and Curtis Jones (Frosh) coming off the bench.

UK, Duke, Mich St, and Arizona should be in a tier alone. Then everyone else. A lot like last year where there 4 clearly superior teams with the rest lagging behind.

I'd love to have a coach that encourages kids to stay instead of bolt . We are hurting our self by pushing players out the door .

Who's pushing them out the door? Each individual player makes their own decision based on what they think is best for them. I guess you simply want Cal to recruit lesser talented players...smh.

Premature thread. Can't intelligently discuss this topic until we see what players are and are not leaving for the pros. Just one surprise returnee--and there generally are a few every year--can change everything for a team's prospects.

False - you can absolutely intelligently discuss this. Of course things will change, but it's a legitimate topic. I think we'll be incredibly good as we will actually have some good experience returning.

Part Cal ,part " the system" . If you don't think players come here to be OAD's I don't know what to tell ya . No I don't want lesser players , But I don't want any acceptance or encouragement of guys like the Harrisons Johnson , Lee , Briscoe , Skal going pro early when they are not close to ready .

Duke will be # 1, Jefferson coming back is huge although Allen leaving would be a blow. I think KU loses Seldon, Davis leaving/staying at MSU will be huge, projected in the teens.

Our best teams have had quality returnees. There's also the leadership issue. Willis is not that. Briscoe would be if he came back.

We will have the most talent 1-13 especially if Skal goes pro and we get Bolden. We really need Skal to leave.

Cal wanted Johnson to come back. There have been others, mostly guards that he counciled to return but He can't make them.

The fact that we lost 2nd round could change a lot of guys going! 11 team made a great run.12 team won it all.
15 team enough said. Except Johnson had no buisness leaving. You get these every so often.
Skal may go because of his handler.
Ulis an murray should go imo. Neither will raise there stock coming back..

But the rest i dont see leaving unless its transfering.
Lee,brisco, matthews, hawk, hump, willis, to go with 5 freshman. Not enough playing time which is why i think there could be a transfer..
That team lacks shooters but will be a very good rebounding/defensive team and very long/athletic as well..

Texas A&M loses four seniors who all contribute and have started for much f the year. They will be young, but talented. How will that inexperience and/or youth do? It may depend on whether or not they can get Pat Adams to do all of their games...

MSU loses four seniors as well. Izzo will have his first set of top ten recruits ever to go with who stays. He may land Josh Jackson, too. It remains to be seen how he will handle multiple ones and done kids. Folks may find out it's not as easy as just rolling the balls out...

I think the love for UL is misguided. They must be hoping that the NCAA treats them as they have treated UNC...who should be on the sidelines with a banner or two removed. It's crazy how they've not yet been hammered...

Kansas will be good as well, and we know will run through the Big XII. They plan to add some great talent this spring. Who can Bill convince to stay after winning it all? Regardless, they'll be good again.

dUKe will be loaded just as UK will be. Bolden will be the icing on the cake for someone. It would be great for him to land in Lexington and let Cal and his staff develop him as we've seen with Cousins, Davis, Noel, Randal, WCS and KAT. With that history...a kid like Bolden would be "next" for the Big Blue...

I understand why because east coast bias is a real thing...but everybody in this thread is totally sleeping on Oregon. They don't lose ANYBODY from this year's team next year. When they play Duke next weekend that will be telling as to their overall quality but they are peaking at the right time time!

Also UCLA will be much much better. Lonzo Ball may be better then Fox and be the best high school guard in the country and T.J. Leaf is very good and they also don't lose anybody. However not as high on them as Oregon because Dana Altman is a much better coach then Alford.

Other then the west coast Duke, Michigan State, and Kansas project to be elite. But if Kansas wins the whole thing this year I'd expect Seldon and Mason to jump with Diallo and Ellis finally graduated so they would take a significant step back.

Has anybody considerd our schedule next year??? It's INSANE!!! Michigan State, Louisville, UCLA, North Carolina and Kansas (not confirmed) in the Non-con and now everybody is pressuring Cal to add Indiana to it as well. Talk about a gauntlet lol

And you know what Cal would say to that? "What if your kid was a draft pick? would you still care so much about the title vs the million $?"

Virginia will start slow but finish fast. Six players becoming eligible (redshirt freshman four star Mamadi Diakati, transfer from Memphis five star Austin Nichols and four four star recruits---best being Kyle Guy from Indiania and McDonalds All American) They do lose Brogdon, Gill, Tobey and Nolte. They return Perentes, Hall, Shayok, Wilkins, Thompson, Salt, Reuter. However, losing Brogdon is a huge loss

There is a lot up in the air for next year. But, it sucks that UK has loaded teams in the same years others do. Put last year or next year's team in this NCAA tourney and they win easily.

Right now I think KU and Duke are clearly the best two and then UK, MSU, UL behind them.

Get Bolden and maybe it's another story. But, if KU or MSU land Jackson then they are the clear #1
