Having a support system so close is something Tate is looking forward to most. He knows he’ll have family at every game, whether it’s his mom, dad, grandparents, aunt and uncle or brothers. That made the Nebraska decision a little easier, and a lot sweeter.

Tate could have quit football. He could have committed to Iowa or Arizona State. He didn’t, though. He’s glad it worked out that way.

“It could have been completely different than it is now,” Tate said. “But this was how it was supposed to be.”

Word was that his dad felt slighted by the coaches at Iowa for offering late or something to that effect because he was a “legacy”. I hope Tate has a better head on his shoulders than what it appears his dad has.

Evidently he does, he chose Nebraska instead of Iowa.

Fully agreed there. Iowa is a SOLID program but isn’t going anywhere, anytime soon. You can see the Huskers making big time moves and big things coming together. He was very smart picking and sticking with the Huskers. Sorry, my opinion only, but as long as Iowa keeps Kirk as there coach, they may have solid seasons here and there but the will NEVER get over the hump and win it big. Only seasons full of cupcakes will produce 10-11 win seasons. I doubt we ever see them go 12 wins with Kirk.

You realize that Iowa went 12-0 before losing to Sparty and Stanford in the Rose Bowl...

Usually your posts are well-rounded and not too bias. This one is dumb.

I found the article I was referring to.

“That was a big turnoff for me, Tate being a legacy kid, having a dad who coached there,” Parker said. “Water under the bridge now, but, I’ve had my conversations with Kirk about it.”

Comes off to me as a dad that was angry that Kirk wasnt recruiting his son as hard as he wanted. Here is the rest of the article from May.

Really glad another topic devolved into a thread about Iowa.
Once again you can thank the loudmouth Iowa fan who constantly barges into Husker conversations with his Iowa garbage. The loser was on this board at 5 a.m., apparently no one else wants to listen to him either.

Not sure why they have such a hard on for us? Little brother syndrome? I don't visit the Iowa board or any other board for that matter. Don't give two ***** about any other school but NU. GBR

I was all over this morning at 5 AM. And 2 AM. And 3 AM. Couldn’t sleep even with drugs to help alleviate the pain from foot surgery. You guys can be awful sensitive at times. I didn’t make anything up or state anything I didn’t feel to be true. Don’t let little old me get in the way of your happiness of a four star recruit.

I been having fun poking at Iowa. If you can’t tell, I just hate the team. My new KSUcks and/or Colorado. But I truly feel with Kirk they will never be a contender and Iowa knows this as well.

I guess the way I look at it is that Iowa owns us right now. I seem to remember the talk that TO would never win the NC. After all, he could only take the team so far. I would never say never and bragging about our team before a play has even been made seems a bit premature. Win and then we have some reason to crow, until that happens we just eat it.

Unfortunately the majority of fans are ok with 7-8 wins every year. I am not. But that’s for a different discussion. Back to your boy Tate.

Ferentz never has shown much aptitude for recruiting. Big miss on Tate.

"At the end of the day", it really doesn't matter where the program is going (for the kid) as long as it is stable and wins enough to not turn in to a dumpster fire. What's more important is whether or not the program and school meets the need of the kid and provides the environment for growth and personal success. Both Iowa and NU can do that IMO. Obviously I think Frost's staff will be better for him that's probably just my bias.
