I hope that, at the very least, we don't get an anti-vaccine nut like Andy Gipson in charge. The guy was pushing exemptions in the legislature a decade ago, so you know he's a true believer and not a cynical opportunist.
Agreed. I voted for "the 420 guy" in 2019, but enthusiastically voted for Tate in 2023. I believe he has been the best governor of my adult life.I was very skeptical about Tate but he has done really well in my opinion. Kicked Covid 19 out of the park after the initial stuff
I expected to see a real Quasimodo, based on your comment.
...I mean, the dude isnt gonna make women go weak in the knees with lust, but he also doesnt look repulsive.

It's at least both. All the Favre stuff was also done at JSU but you don't hear anything about that. Also Shad wanted to be completely involved with the Favre story/lawsuit/whatever. He just screams political. He was an accountant that did a good job where people hadn't before him. That doesn't make he feel like he'd be a great governor. It just says he knows what he's doing when it comes to auditing the books. Had he not made things so political then I'd likely be more in favor of him. Again why not make things fair. Why not mention the way southern did things JSU did as well.I've had meetings with him and he comes across as sincere. He is either 1) finding more fraud that his predecessor or 2) better at socializing his results so we see more of it or 3) both

GA/TN are well on their way to doing that. They’ve had so much growth they don’t see the forest for the trees.
Not the biggest fan of Blackburn but the things she claiming to fix already have counter-measures in place. And her claims of putting "washington bureacrates in their place" are somewhat ironic considering its the lack of term- limits that have given people like her a career in politics. That said, i don't see her breaking anything that Lee has built.
I was told he would be someone that could set all the gains we have made as a State back. He is not wanted at all buy businesspeople.I hope that, at the very least, we don't get an anti-vaccine nut like Andy Gipson in charge. Even for a politician, Andy Gipson is absolutely shameless in his self-promotion. It's past goofy. It’s not a schtick. He’s really like that.
I don’t agree with him on all his positions but the guy is a go getter. He revamped the fairgrounds and has grown the Dixie Nationals. His Genuine Mississippi program has really helped a lot of small ag businesses get their name and products out there for people to see.
Have the people in Brandon he grew up with SEEN the rest of our successful politicians?Even for a politician, Andy Gipson is absolutely shameless in his self-promotion. It's past goofy.
I think people he grew up with in Brandon are a little surprised he's been as successful as he's been in politics.
She sucks. I don't know why they want her so badly. A do nothing leader is a weak leader. Not the biggest fan of Blackburn but the things she claiming to fix already have counter-measures in place. You aren't wrong. The lobbying firms usually pick so it's a wash anyway. That's why Waller never had a chance when he ran. He was going to stop lobbying in Mississippi until he realized that was going to stop him from getting the "votes". He later went back and stated that he would allow lobbying just not during legislative season.SADLY a lot will depend on who Trump endorses in Mississippi .
I bet that you think Bennie has done a great job.She sucks. I don't know why they want her so badly. A do nothing leader is a weak leader.
Yea, Waller didnt win for multiple reasons. You aren't wrong. The lobbying firms usually pick so it's a wash anyway. That's why Waller never had a chance when he ran. He was going to stop lobbying in Mississippi until he realized that was going to stop him from getting the "votes". He later went back and stated that he would allow lobbying just not during legislative season.
When I asked around who people were voting for/ why not Waller the answer was always that he didn't have a chance to beat the Democrat.. In Mississippi for governor...
The lobbying firms pick who is next and that's whose agenda is pushed..
I'm not saying none of his behavior is genuine. My point is that he often leans into it so heavily that it starts to feel performative rather than authentic. When someone constantly emphasizes how "real" or "down-to-earth" they are, it's reasonable to question whether some of it is image management. It’s not a schtick. He’s really like that.

They could do worse I suppose. Georgia might elect Keisha Lance Bottoms.I bet that you think Bennie has done a great job.
It's always interesting how it never fails, anyone with Mississippi State ties getson in here.
I am the Yancy Porter of political airplane observation. Be glad I left out the parts about the restroom and his dance moves**My advice to young, single Bulldogs starting out is to find you a gal that looks at you like FreeDawg looks at Andy Gibson.
Shad does a good job of (mostly) busting 60 year old grandmothers who fudge on their time sheet. It's at least both. All the Favre stuff was also done at JSU but you don't hear anything about that. plot twist, FreeDawg is Andy.My advice to young, single Bulldogs starting out is to find you a gal that looks at you like FreeDawg looks at Andy Gibson.
If Keisha Lance Bottoms were a better and more competent politican, she would be president of the United States right now. No, really. They could do worse I suppose. Georgia might elect Keisha Lance Bottoms.
As a medical professional, I can’t help but think of lancing bottoms when i hear her nameIf Keisha Lance Bottoms were a better and more competent politican, she would be president of the United States right now. No, really.
Didn’t Kamala try that?If Keisha Lance Bottoms were a better and more competent politican, she would be president of the United States right now. No, really.
The point I'm making is that Biden was close to picking Bottoms to be his running mate in 2020, but decided she'd be too much of a drag on the ticket and went with Harris instead. If Bottoms had been a better and more competent politician, she would have been picked by Biden to be on his ticket, served as VP, and inherited the 2024 Democratic nomination.Didn’t Kamala try that?
First, age discrimination, now visual-looks discrimination. Wow, I know the Pack meets a lot of low standards, and this doesn't help at all. Regardless, Shad White seems to emphasize a big DOGE type effort in government. I'm just ok with Tater Tot, but if feels like sometimes, he's just treading water.I expected to see a real Quasimodo, based on your comment.

Keisha Lance Bottoms is less electable nationally than Kamala which is an accomplishmentDidn’t Kamala try that?
I know right, what the 17 is normalcy now even. Things have gotten so shi* it’s almost hard to tell..I said 'normal'...
I KEED, I KEED.
I generally agree with you and I was a big Jim Hood supporter. Having said that, MS has missed out on billions in health care money by not expanding Medicaid. Our hospitals’ plan should have been adopted.I had the opportunity last week to sit in a meeting with several people involved in overseeing economic growth across the state, including Bill Cork. I was not a fan of Tate Reeves, but my opinion of him has changed over the years.
I would argue that he has been one of Mississippi’s better governors. When Tate took office, he acknowledged that the state had problems and was not afraid to make changes. Economic development and education have both been home runs under his leadership. Even a few of my Democratic friends who attended the event admitted afterward that his record in those areas has been impressive.
Healthcare still needs improvement, but that is also a nationwide problem and largely outside the control of any one governor. Bill also acknowledged that one of his concerns is whether the next governor will be able to continue the progress that has been made.
Fact:She sucks. I don't know why they want her so badly. A do nothing leader is a weak leader.
Listen, I'll trade heights with Andy tomorrow but I ain't putting on a damn cowboy hat. And the only reason Andy was lucky enough to share an emergency row seat with me is because my son's FC seat was broken and I took one for the team to go sit with the common folk. Left the kids with my wife and mom and I must say, was the most peaceful leg I had on that tripplot twist, FreeDawg is Andy.
And that’s fine. I was just pointing out that even though it seems performative he really is that way. It’s going to be an interesting primary for governor that will probably have a runoff. My guess is it will be between White and FitchI'm not saying none of his behavior is genuine. My point is that he often leans into it so heavily that it starts to feel performative rather than authentic. When someone constantly emphasizes how "real" or "down-to-earth" they are, it's reasonable to question whether some of it is image management.
And yes, I recognize that he's accomplished good things as Ag Commissioner. But that's true of most politicians—having a record of legitimate accomplishments doesn't automatically make someone above scrutiny or immune from the influence of donors and special interests.
What I found funny was the suggestion that he's somehow incapable of being "on the take." That's a much stronger claim than simply saying he's done a good job. Given his close ties to the agricultural industry and rich farmers, it's odd to assume he's uniquely insulated from the same financial pressures and incentives that affect other politicians.
