After a come back for the ages victory against Rocky Mount, the Vikings hit the road to take on the defending 5a Eastern champions the Hunt warriors. Hunt had quite the off-season, losing some key players to transfer. But they bring back a good bit from last year including the QB and RB. Many hunt fans and players have had this game circled for some payback against the Vikings. It'll take a great performance from the Vikings to bring home the win. But after what I saw in the second half against Rocky Mount, I think it'd be unwise to doubt this group of Vikings.

Our boys can do it! No doubt in my mind. With that said, it’ll be a TALL task. These young Vikings will have to play the best game they’ve ever played, and maybe even need a few things to go their way. Look, we know what Hunt has back from last year, and we know what we lost, so I’m sure as long as our boys play hard and give it what they have, I expect our staff to be satisfied.

They play like they did in the second half against RM I'll definitely like our chances. This group grew a lot last week and I'm sure they will this week in a big time environment on the road.

Should be another great game. Hunt's handling Lee county pretty easily right now, it's on the Nfhs

I felt hunt was much better than rm last year, but rm gave us a closer game. As you mentioned, we made a good jump from week 1 to week 2. Hopefully we do that again this year

I'd have to imagine this is one that Hunt wants really bad as well. Our boys have to be prepared to take their best shot early.

Everything I've seen on social media from hunt players and fans backs up this statement. They've had this one circled since they lost to Tarboro last year.

Watched hunt on Saturday. They are good, and on paper should probably be favored in this game. But they rely a whole lot on that QB. He is very good and can beat you by himself.

I'm sure the Hunt faithful are thrilled to have him back. Hopefully we can do what we can to keep him off the field. Again, maybe some long, successful drives.

good number of teams already switching things to Thursday. Unfortunately I will not be able to attend if it is moved to Thursday.

BINGO! Same way. I think what’s adding a little fuel to the fire is seeing how their fans are acting. It just affirms what I said before, we are everyone’s Super Bowl.

It ain't just their fans to. It's a bunch of other fans of other schools. You are indeed correct about us being everybody super bowl.

Well, y'all gave up 35 points the second half. I couldn't watch, but did Hunt force the fumbles or was it on the exchange?. I dislike Hunt more than any school in our area, by far, but ya gotta give them props.
Nobody puts 35 on Tarboro in a game, let alone a half. And yes, everybody gets up to play the Vikes..Consider it a compliment. Because it's really a token of respect. Tarboro is the best team in the tri county area year in and year out. Fact. Last years team from top to bottom was one of the best Tarboro teams ever. This years version doesn't have the break away quick strike speed like many squads before, and is not as fast overall on defense. This years version doesn't have the blue chipper or the swagger Tarboro fans are used to seeing, BUT, there's nobody in the 2a east that can keep it close. Tarboro will play for another state championship. It's not a given to win it, but y'all will play for it. And, the Vike fans knew this years squad is a work in progress. Y'all are gonna be fine.

But you have to protect the football. Hunt focused hard late in the game on holding the ball carrier up and giving others chances to rip the ball out. That’s stopping the drive by any means necessary. Creating fumbles is an effective strategy for a defense. That’s ultimately what cost us the game, a game our guys controlled most of the way.

A friend of mine at the game said Tarboro's backs were carrying the ball "like a loaf of bread"...And he's a coach...I bet next week's practices will not be "player friendly".
