2 year mission "during his Husker career"? Not sure what to make of that one.
If he commits, essentially he'll be the first of the 2022 cycle. It just depends on when his mission begins, but if he takes the full two years, that means his greatest contributions will be 2023--2025.

Here are the money sentences (literally, because I paid for them):

That was in November. The consensus three-star defensive lineman wrapped up his official visit in Lincoln on Sunday, a trip he said was “not what I expected.” Instead of a giant stadium surrounded by cornfields, Lincoln struck him as a big city with a small-town feel. The coaches are “like family.”

But the 6-foot-6, 295-pound son of former Kansas State and NFL D-lineman Jerry Togiai won’t make a final decision this week, opting instead to sign somewhere when the traditional date arrives Feb. 5. He has already officially visited Utah and K-State. If he visits anywhere next month, he said, it will be Virginia or UCLA.

Sigh. Another recruit convinced Lincoln's nothing but corn. I ***** about the exterior shots of cornfields during football broadcasts, and I've been dismissed as overly critical. But I'm convinced it makes a difference.

It will be tough to pull this one away from Utah and UCLA.

I think he will be N. He will be a 20-21 year old, 6'7" freshman DL in a couple of years. Thats pretty cool. Bronson Kaufusi type.

Will we have have room for him in February, especially since he will be taking a 2-year mission?

Nebraska has a good Mormon population. Take him up to Florence so he can view the Winter encampment of the Mormons after they crossed the Missouri. The Mormon Cemetery is very moving.

How does that work? Does he wait and go on scholarship after his mission? If so, could he count toward that class?

He said that the plan would be that he would enroll next fall, take a redshirt year and then the 2 year mission, so I assume that he would be on scholarship and it would count against the limit except for the two years that he is on the mission.

One reason WAC, then Mountain West teams didn't like competing against BYU was the number of 24-year-old grown-*** men playing on BYU's lines:
  • 18 years old — redshirt
  • 19 years old — mission
  • 20 years old — mission
  • 21 years old — on roster, getting back into football shape
  • 22 years old — playing
  • 23 years old — playing
  • 24 years old — playing
That would translate to a seven-year clock, and for Togiai, he'd be contributing most from 2024-2026.
