I’ve always been glad he’s a bulldog. He’s a really good college player, but I wondered if he could make it in the professional ranks.

TA has been really impressive this year in all aspects of the game. He’s shown that he has plus speed, a good arm, and plays a good outfield. Before this season, I don’t think anyone realized how solid he was. I sure didn’t. He just seemed like a good hitter who got stuck in RF.

Some MLB team is going to get a winner. I just hope TA gets a good paycheck out of it.

Wasn't he recruited here as a second baseman? I think that position is his ticket for the next level because he already is a good infielder with speed and college experience in the infield, albeit at first base

I was pretty confident that Allen was going to come through with those bases loaded which is a rare feeling for me when it comes to MSU sports. He has really settled into that leadership role.

Funny how the length of his pants don't seem to be that big a deal anymore.

If you can’t thank Cannizaro for anything else, thank him for stealing TA from Mainieri.

I'm glad he's on our team. I don't know what kind of pro career he ends up having, but at this level, he's a winner.

Does he have plus speed? I thought he was average or even a little below average speed but I don't really know why I thought that. He didn't look slow on his triple.

TA may be the fastest guy on the team. He definitely is a plus speed guy.

I had no clue. I guess 1st base doesn't make people look fast and I haven't gotten to watch much this year.

If he has plus speed, what is the knock on him from MLB perspective? Just pretty good at everything but not great at anything?

Hell yes he can make it. If you can hit, they'll find a position for you. When you're an athlete like him, they'll be even quicker to take a chance on you. And he's not always shown that plus speed until this year, so that shows you how athletic and disciplined he is that he can learn to get faster.

Allen is an example of what being an athlete, playing multiple sports (and positions) can do for you. Very versatile. He was a QB in high school.

Probably size. Which is stupid, as Yancy knows.

He'll get a shot somewhere. We'll just have to see if the things he does well plays up with wood bats in pro ball. Mangum had the same questions and he's struggled so far in pro ball (admittedly small sample size so far).

Someone will take a chance... you hope. But he's going to need a great agent, strong support network, and get hooked up with a club that focuses on development (many don't). Playing in the minors is no picnic and getting into the show is damn near impossible. His connection to our program and teammates in the pros will be his best assist.

Don’t kid yourself. The length of TA’s (and the rest of the team’s) pants STILL matter. It’s not been mentioned lately cause it has been talked about at length several times already.

You can have you’re mohawk haircuts, your gold chains and goofy HR celebrations but don’t disrespect the uniform. Wear it the way it’s supposed to be worn. Respect the program and those that played here before you because it’s bigger than you.

Man, I really can’t tell what’s satire anymore.

What knock? He was drafted out of high school, drafted as a sophomore and would have been drafted last year in a normal draft in a real sign-able position, probably rounds 6-10. That's Adam Frazier area.

You respect the program by winning, beating Ole Miss, and being a threat to get to Omaha.

I think he has a chance the same way Adam Frazier made it.

Be able to play a lot of positions and be able to do utility/role player duties. Eventually it can work out into a full time starting role like Frazier.

He has shown that he can play the outfield first and second at an adequate level. He can hit and has some pop. I think his greatest asset in addition to his versatility is his speed which makes him a potential pinch run option as well as pinch hit option in MLB. Another thing in his favor is he has some up big in the clutch multiple times in his career and he is a hard worker and good leader.

In the pros if he can add playing third base to his repertoire that would help his cause more than anything.

Well, he was just under a .350 hitter in the SEC in 2019, not much behind Mangum. I would have thought Mangum with some power (not a ton of HRs but top 5 in RBIs that year) and also fast would be a bigger prospect than that. Also, compare his stats to Jordan Westburg's. They're pretty similar. I know Westburg had some measurables that made him a bigger prospect, but Allen was basically better or equal in every offensive category. Just curious as to what he is missing to keep him from being a better prospect.
