Somewhere there is a dictionary definition of "baseball player" that consists of a highlight reel of this guy's MSU career. He gave everything he had every at bat, every chance in the field, every time. I can't remember him missing an opportunity to take an extra base; nor can I remember him taking a chance when there was no chance. He has an uncanny instinct for the game. Have loved watching him play.

He’s a special player. We’ve been lucky to have had a bunch of them. he’s a fighter. No quit in that man.
Man this guy was something else. He’s on the Mount Rushmore of MSU baseball. Don’t ask with who, I just know he has a spot. Possibly the top spot right?
The quintessential personification of a bulldog! That man better not ever hafta buy another drink in the state of Mississippi. Outside of Lafayette County anyway.
One of my favorite things about the video is the HR against UVA is the biggest hit in his career, probably top 2 in MSU history but he saves the Ole Miss triple for last. Just to turn the knife a little. He is not a fan of that school and I like it.
12 year old me had no idea this happened. From my extensive searching the first link was an SPS thread but the youtube link in that thread no longer works. So, here's some footage I found.
This says 1996, so who the hell knows. Still awesome to see them sing this wearing the M over S.
I believe they simply wanted maroon hats for their outfits. And in true Mississippi State style, the hats don't match the jackets.
P.S. State's maroons have matched so much better and been so much more consistent the past few/several years. Until Fanatics this month, anyway.

Correct. They wanted a maroon cap to match their jackets and we provided them with the hats. It would’ve been great if they provided more of an influence than they did, but that’s not their fault. Imagine seeing folks walking around with MSU gear more than they do like Miami or other sports teams.
