where he's asked about PSU, and per his norm, he can't resist taking a shot at PSU.

You can find the interview at:

It's an interesting interview about many subjects, including the challenges of managing a roster in the era of NIL and the portal, the great recruiting class tOSU put together for this year, and "gunning for Penn State." The portion that deals with PSU starts around the 26 minute mark. Stick with it a bit, as he kind of gets away from talking about PSU, then returns to discuss the subject a few times.

Any quick bullet highlights? As a matter of principal, I won’t give a single click to anything buckeye-related. Tan Tom is the definition of “smarmy”

I listened. He was asked about mat wrestling and he expanded on that and said that sometimes you run into a couple of hammers like Carter Starocci on top. He then says his top game uses a stall ride. He says it's obvious, even more so than grabbing the ankle, but if the refs aren't going to call it then they aren't going to call it. He calls it a brilliant ride. He calls the coaching at PSU fantastic and that we have a system here and it works. But he says it's just sitting on the ankle.

I've always had mixed feelings about the ride to be honest. It is and it isn't a stall ride. You can turn people and our guys do turn people with the ride. It's not like they aren't going to turn guys they can turn with it. At the same time there are guys they aren't going to turn with it but they are going to use the ride anyway for an entire period when there isn't a chance they are turning them but they are capable of making sure they don't escape with it.

He's not right but he's not wrong either but at the end of the day you have to teach your guys how to get away when someone is riding like that.

I thought it was a good interview overall (future OSU line ups on paper could be very good), but the ankle ride griping gets a bit old IMO. PSU, no doubt, uses this effectively, but its not as if no one else uses it if the opportunity presents itself. Its also on them to figure out a way to nullify ankle controls.

As long as there is a riding time point, then ride. It isn’t like PSU guys don’t try to turn people. Look at the bonus points we scored at nationals.

Tom is a great guy who is better off not opening his mouth too much. Like his speech before the PSU match the other year……

He's a jackoff but provides an interesting perspective.
