Former Alaska governor Sarah Palin, who was Sen. John McCain (R-AZ)’s running mate in the 2008 presidential election, has been excluded from his funeral.
Palin was not sent an invitation, and was told through intermediaries to stay away from the ceremony. McCain fundraiser Carla Eudy confirmed to People that Palin had not been invited — possibly, People speculated, at the behest of the McCain family.
When news broke on Saturday of McCain’s passing, Palin said: “Today we lost an American original. Sen. John McCain was a maverick and a fighter, never afraid to stand for his beliefs. John never took the easy path in life — and through sacrifice and suffering he inspired others to serve something greater than self.
“John McCain was my friend. I will remember the good times. My family and I send prayers for Cindy and the McCain family.”

I saw that and her statement shows she has class, something that was sorely missing from McCain. I guess his dad and granddad could get him into the naval academy and onto the flight deck but they could not get him class.

Airhead certainly has none as witnessed by his flippant comment yesterday about nearly 3,000 people dying in PR in last year's hurricane but that's typical for him.

I have no idea what went on between the two. I also have never seen any negative comments about McCain from Palin. I watched a documentary about McCain a couple nights ago on PBS. Looked like McCain could be a little different than all the glowing commentary we are seeing since he passed.

Maybe Cindy was behind the no invite to Palin. In that PBS McCain piece......they made the point two times that McCain was known as a "womanizer" and "had an eye for the ladies"........their words, not mine.

Seeing as he spent 8 months planning his funeral I'd say it was probably his call but who knows.

Was this McCain's wish or his family's after her comments? I'll always take the side of the dead guy or the dead guys family. To each their own.

He lost because the dems had an inspirational candidate and the economy was tanking. McCain could have picked Santa Claus and still lost.

Said over the past few years that he retreated not choosing Independent/Liberal Democrat friend Joe Lieberman for his Vice President. Tried hard to blame Palin for the loss (unwilling to admit his lack of real popularity and that he was bucking the candidacy of the first black). Real pettiness showed when he cast the deciding vote against repeal of Obama care after running on the repeal message you years. Voted against the american people as spite against Trump and not wanting him to claim such an important victory. Definition of Petty.

Her comments were perfectly fine, better than I would have given. It is their choice, but it's a poor choice, and it does look very petty.
You're fine with trashing a dead man's family in a statement about his death? Yikes.

Again, I'll side with the dead man and the dead man's family 100 out of 100 times.

Well, he got half a Santa Claus..........instead of a full "Ho-ho"........he just picked a "Ho".........[winking]

I'm not trashing them at all. Calling it a poor choice and thinking it appears petty, is far from trashing. He only had one Vice President running mate in his life, one he hand picked, and to specifically exclude from the services.... sorry, it's poor choice.

I didn't mean to say you trashed them, I was talking about Palin. He chose her 10 years ago for a few weeks. How close have they been since? I'll side with the family.

Meh. It's their choice. Her comments were a bad move too.
What comments........these?
“Today we lost an American original. Sen. John McCain was a maverick and a fighter, never afraid to stand for his beliefs. John never took the easy path in life — and through sacrifice and suffering he inspired others to serve something greater than self.
“John McCain was my friend. I will remember the good times. My family and I send prayers for Cindy and the McCain family.”

or these?

“[O]ut of respect for Sen. McCain and his family we have nothing to add at this point. The Palin family will always cherish their friendship with the McCains and hold those memories dear.”

She said nothing but good things. I chose to remember the good times, the only good times would be the campaign while he was alive.

Or these:

"I think it's unfortunate that he had people around him - and they continued to be around him for a very long time - who weren't serving him well,' she said.

'They certainly weren't serving the country well with what they were trying to do.'

'I believe he was told things about what America really wanted or really needed because he's been in that DC bubble for so many years."

Again, I'll side with the dead man and the dead man's family. I'm not sure why people have a problem with this?

He picked her. If she cost him it was his fault. Maybe you can give him his participation trophy in hell.

Another shining moment from Uncle Joe talking about President Obama in 2007:
"I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy,"
