Suppose someone from the future came back to visit you at 11:30 PM November 28, 2019 (right after the Egg Bowl). You are told that Mississippi State's next regular season game would be September 26, 2020 and the Bulldogs would beat the defending champs LSU Tigers 44-34 with 623 yards passing and 9 yards rushing.

What would be your best guess at what the 17 happened over the last 10 months?

Since that is the date we are choosing, the first thing I would do is bet my life savings on LSU to win it all.

Second, I would imagine that what happened is what happened. There's only one coach in the country that can do numbers like that, and his name ain't JoMo.

My guess:

We got destroyed in a bowl game because, well, Joe Moorhead. Then Kobe Bryant died. Then we impeached the president. Then we had a nationwide pandemic that locked down the country for several weeks. Then we decided we would only play a 10 game SEC schedule with only a handful of fans in attendance. Then Chadwick Boseman died.

I mean, it's the only logical explanation.

So I would assume we got destroyed in the bowl and Moorhead was fired. Leach was always talked about so I figured we either got him or Joe Brady. As far as the regular season starting then, my best guess back then would be something happened with NIL and the SEC broke from the NCAA. It is weird that we were scheduled to play another LA school that weekend though.
