That's true. I won't deny that.Saying he would play tonight if it were Duke or Tenn is speculation as well.

Wow...can you throw in any more pure speculation in this nonsensical paragraph? You know nothing.I personally think that PJ had some sort of season ending injury. He didn't like what the Dr told him early this week and told coach Cal that he was fine. He then went and saw a second specialist yesterday after coach Cal interviewed, the interview where coach Cal said PJ was fine and would play today, and the the second specialist confirmed the first Dr's diagnosis of a season ending injury. He then told coach Cal after the interview what the injury was but told him not to announce what the injury is because he wants to talk to a lawyer to see how to go about this injury without hurting his draft stock too much. He's probably talking to a lawyer now asking them what all does the NBA need to know about his injury. Once he gets his answers PJ and or UK staff will make an official announcement about his season ending injury or maybe not even make an announcement.
Maybe not for average Joe's like you and I, but a hard cast is without doubt better for completely immobilizing a minor injury and might help an athlete recover quickly. For non athlete's they probably wouldn't even have put him in a boot given the clear MRI and X ray. Most of the overreactions come from the hard cast not just him not playing. I don't think I've seen a hard cast put on for temporary reasons. I just worry it's worse than they are saying and that they don't want to hurt his draft stock.
Atrophy? So long as a person is eating a proper diet, atrophy won't happen for weeks even if a person isn't moving at all. Even without proper diet, it's still a couple weeks, not 36 or 48 hours. Why reach so far? I think some folks have a need to see things in as pessimistic a light as possible. Was Cal lying when he said there was no structural damage? He would have to be if you're right. You don’t fully immobilize a guy then play him 2 days later. The chances of serious injury increase 10 fold. Pj will need pt before he plays again. The only reason for a hard cast is serious injury bc even after a couple days the muscle will begin to atrophy once that happens the risk is much higher than just playing on it.
I think it depends on if it’s a bleeder or not. :flushed:Rumor going around now that Keldon popped out a hemorrhoid.
He'll miss the rest of the season.
Stress fracture.
Out until the combine.
Deal with it.
this makes it sound like we might get to see him play on Saturday assuming we win tonight. On KSR Pregame show, they said Hagans was on Instagram Live making fun of PJ for not wearing his boot and UK making him wear a hard cast so he can't take it off.
I hope your right, but I think we need him Saturday or he might not get another chance. There’s no point worrying about something I have no control over. Just have to wait and see. This is just my opinion. I would not try to read into anything that has been said.
Yesterday, Cal said there is no significant damage to PJ's foot and that PJ wants to play. They were sending him to a specialist to be completely sure. I think shortly thereafter they also decided that PJ wasn't going to play in this Abilene Game. Why would you play him if you know he could rest that foot and you will still win without him? He's not needed for this game.
Once it was decided he wasn't going to play, the best way to immobilize that foot and keep anything further from happening is a hard cast. So, that's what they did.
So today, when it is said that he's "out for today's game" I would take that at face value. So, I'm assuming he will return for Saturday's game. And yes, a hard cast can be removed after a short time.
I don't think it is wise to read anything further into any of this.

Everyone was saying they expect him to play, Cal said PJ wants to play, then they decided to hold him out against Abilene Christian. I'll tell you what I would have been thinking if I'm coach Cal. "What does the specialist say? No structural damage. Ok, is he hurting? Yes. Is he 100%? No. Ok, do we need him for Abilene? No. Let's rest him for 2 more days, then." I think it's a wise decision. But it doesn't mean he COULDN'T play and it doesn't mean he's DONE for the season. I think we would already know if that were the case.
I'd say when you lose your best player at the start of the tourney, its a good time to over-react...Trying to tell a bunch of Kentucky fans and trolls on the internet not to overreact? You are brave sir. Might have a better chance at turning a lion into a vegan.
