It’s amazing the contrast between a real coach and a showman pretending to be a coach.

The only reason Calipari’s *** backwards thinking of “actually that’s old the REAL way to do things is to not care and float in” was because of some insane talent early.

You cannot sustain with a Calipari “ah who cares” model. And goodness did some of our fans buy in like fools.

Toppin has been KB so far this season. He is what he is. I don’t expect too much from him. But the problem is Cal and media talked him up so much over the summer that you have a kid now who thinks he’s prime time and ready to show out for scouts all season. Oh, and he really loves the camera.

I know I sound like I don’t like JT, and I’m bashing him. I don’t mean to do that. I am actually saying that JT is the victim of Cal being Cal. I like the kid, and would be happy with him playing his role. Let’s hope he does that and doesn’t try to be Obi.

I'd trade Cal for Sampson.

Sampson would KILL it here. Probably a good shot at multiple titles. I’d say a 10 year run nets at least one, and he wants it. The first big program that takes him is gonna make a lot of us regret it.

I’d be **** screamin with that hire. I don’t care what he’s done phone calls or some craziness. It’s open season. If he’s not on a short list to replace Calipari something is wrong. The guy can flat out coach.

Sampson is who almost 70, been to one Final Four in the last 20 years and has 1 conference championship in a major conference.

Sampson has made a lot of bad decisions in coaching. Its cost him big. That doesn’t mean he’s not currently one of the best. He also hasn’t been in the college game “for the last 20 years” DOH!

Are you ever able to look at a situation and manage the variables instead of throwing every friggin thing in a vacuum and calling it a day?

You’d be a damn horrible leader of any business, I wouldn’t even hire you to be a manager with your lack visionary skills and inability to understand nuance.

You seeing the big picture is as hard as staring at the sun to see a firefly 3 inches to the left.

This is the reality of Kelvin Sampson. His greatest claim is being able to keep getting a job after running into questionable actions he was part of. Reminds me a lot of Bruce Pearl.

. 673 winning percentage, lost in first round and lost in 2nd round multiple times. 2 final fours in a very long career is his biggest accomplishment. 5 year suspension for cheating. Yet people on here would trade Cal for him. Plus, what you posted above. I'm not high on Cal right now but would never want Sampson here. Sometimes some posters just make me shake my head with some things they come up with.

So many people just sick of losing in the way we have been, they’ll support anyone coming in not named Calipari. John better win something this season. Final Four would be nice; but with the team he put together I just don’t see it. Maybe S16 with a favorable draw. But we won’t be seeded too high, so it’ll be a chore.

You take your point into so many tangents but you stay on point. Commendable except you are a pain in the arse. (At times.)

We don't have shooters. Until Cal understands this and have Wallace, Wheeler, drive and run the offense around Oscar we gonna lose these games. It's that simple. If we ran a few more plays or had Wheeler and Wallace get lay ups we beat Mich St and we look a little bit more better on Sunday. Or we can keep shooting 4-25 from 3s against good opponents. Because he doesn't run good offense to get people open. He should know by now this style of play is for driving and posting.

Id use this in recruiting against Houston. The NBA is so 3pt centric now, you’ve basically just isolated every recruit but 3pt shooters. Shoot, his best recruit ever is a worse shooter than Livingston. Dumb comment by Sampson. Great coach; dumb comment.

Sounds like a man that is coaching to win games for Houston and the NBA is secondary. Just how it should be.

In 17 tourney appearances, Sampson has

0 championships
2 final fours
6 Sweet 16s

And that was with cheating…

No offense but this is the kind of dumb s$@t I keep hearing…

It sounds like “this guy agrees with me so we should hire him!!! That will solve all of our problems.”

Just like last year Dontae was the solution.

Just like Reeves playing time was the problem.

If he came here and coached that record we would be calling him CKS and saying how much he sucks and how we need xxxxx

I’m as frustrated as any of you, trust me. Our performances the last 5-8 years have not met my expectation. But, I have very little evidence that KS would be a perennial final 4 winner here either. In fact, the scrutiny of him at this school would probably not go well.

I know I’ll get flayed for this but man. Just some strange takes.

Two weeks ago I got flayed for saying Reeves wasn’t the solution to this teams problems.

Now some folks are arguing for Thiero and Onyensu as the new savior.

When they get in and struggle we will move on!!!

Maybe Brenden Canada needs more time!! He’s second on the team shooting 50%!!!!!!! Jeeze guys !!! It’s so obvious that if you disagree you must be a cultist sunshine pumper, LOL

Has a Kelvin Sampson-led team ever lost to St. Peter's in the 1st round? A caller from Lexington named "John" would like to know.

Sampson's a good choice EXCEPT for one thing.

He's 67.

Cal beat Sampson in the tournament when it counted. He's not exactly the coaching prophet people think he is, though he makes a very valid point here.

Still, Cal has grown stubborn and needs to adapt. Hell, he's done it before. Not sure why he isn't now, but it needs to happen. He's a legend when it comes to individual player development (IE: Harrellson, Darius Miller/Liggins, Shai, Nick Richards), motivation, and building a team that is cohesive. He just needs to modernize his playing philosophy a bit. It's so frustrating at times.

Yeah you're going to win if you got Kelvin Sampson. Best thing that ever happened was him messing up the Indiana Job. They had the guy. Lol too bad so sad you Indiana bastards too sad. He may have got you a championship by now. He's pretty damn good and not to be taken lightly in a game.
