Big athletic kid. But, I think we are OK at QB, barring a mass exodus after the spring.

thought he was a neb lock? wheres this new info?
Don’t remember people calling him a lock. My recollection is that people were hopeful but also skeptical due to our lack of a Polynesian connection for years now.

Where was your information from?

I never claimed he was a lock by any stretch
I also detailed the number of Poly kids at OSU which is 20+ and at Utah which was 30+ as well as detailing my experiences coaching Poly kids and talking about how important their culture, family and faith were to them

I said it was going to be a real stretch
Which looks like is turning out to be true- even though OSU sucks

NU is taking 25+ kids- they wanted him
If we missed him- its our loss. I really liked this one

We’ve all been there. Your head tells you to do one thing, you are set to do it and then you end up going with Beaver.
Kind of reminds me of the Phoenix Open yesterday. Is it possible for “ladies” to do a walk of shame BEFORE an evening party? Golf and weather were memorable too, if that matters.

Tago = Mapieu to me... not sure why, just was never really high on him as a QB from watching film. Sucks not to get someone the coaches want though.

BIG kid though and I see why others are recruiting him as LB.

But, if he was strongly drawn by the culture and comraderie (sp) of the Polynesian community, what is the likelihood he would have stayed even if initially he came to NU? Homesickness may have been strong enough to draw him away fairly quickly, which would be worse for NU as a scholarship would be gone for the rest of that year.

hey...at Oregon State he will have the nicest coach in college football! Sorry...but I prefer a competitive quarterback....maybe these rumors are not true and he is a real competitor....we'll have to wait and see.

I'm hoping that this push of Oregon state is mostly because he was later contact with and a push of the Polynesian Community desire to maybe stay closer to the West Coast. All that said if he wants to come to Nebraska and be a Cornhusker love to have him, if not wish him well and hope that he has a great career and gets a great education wherever he goes. The only guys that I ever get upset with about not coming to Nebraska are those that commit then talk about it as a great great great great great thing and then switch that last minute on signing day. And even then I'll give most of them a pass, if they didn't leave the coaches in the dark about it.

I look at recruiting news as points of interest and entertainment. It is what it is. There is nothing I can do about it, therefore I don't get emotionally invested. That's because it, obviously, is no where near an exact science, and there are, obviously, factors involved with recruit decisions, many of them emotional, that are laced with sentiments that the coaches cannot control. Neither can we.

That's why I'm glad for any and all recruits we get on signing day and wish them the best in the world and hope they all translate to wins and a better program in one way or another, as starters or even scout team players making the entire team better.
.
So, I just enjoy the ride while it lasts.

Out of the remaining guys we are after, he’s the last priority we need. We will sign a top notch qb in next years class (maybe Duggan?). Good luck to him but not a loss here.

If we're getting commits from a player who grades out better than the showing man, it means the staff is again doing a great job of closing and getting the talent needed. I don't know if he would play quarterback at the next level but what little I've seen of him I would put him in that linebackers room early and let him use his smarts and god-given ability to be a force. Best of success to him wherever he ends up

Tago was a silent but was told someone else wanted in that was higher on the board. Good luck to him at Oregon state.
I’ve seen this several places, but how does it add up? We have several open spots and we were recruiting him pretty hard. It could be JJB, because Tago was likely to eventually end up at OLB, but JJB is currently on a visit to aTM, doubt he committed to us while on a visit there.

We have more recruits that are high on us than we have open spots. We recruit everyone hard!

Welcome to how recruiting should be done - balls out until the whistle blows on NSD when ink goes to paper. You need to keep pushing to get the best talent possible until it is all done and who cares if you have to push someone out to bring in someone better. Nobody outside of a few people will care. Bama, Clemson, Ohio State do it annually and they are in the playoff race every year for a reason.

I don't know about this. Seems like the only recruit really high on us right now is Cam Taylor. Washington is 50/50. Most of the other recruits who've visited here seem to be trending elsewhere. We have up to 7 spots left, I don't see 7 others besides Tago signing with us this week.

So we offered a kid, he accepted, and now we pulled the offer?
Just making sure I am getting the facts here.
