How much "technique" is involved here really? Were not talking passing or kicking or even running routes. Most of these kids on the team were the best player in their high schools, maybe in their conference in the case of the better ones. Maybe one of the best in their state. They've been playing the game since they hit middle school, if not sooner, before they got here. Tackling consists of grabbing the guy with the ball and not letting go. It shouldn't take years of college coaching to learn to do it. And if you didn't know how to do it before you got here, they shouldn't have brought you in.

Obviously you have never played tackle football. There is so much more to it than "grabbing the guy." Some of it is that kids can get away with poor technique in HS because they are bigger and stronger than many of the kids they play against. Get up against players the same size and faster and your poor technique shows up.

Everyone should try and teach a group of freshmen how to tackle. They are scared to death.
