Some claim great wrestlers also help to make great football players. I hope this story is one of those.
Maybe this is a dumb question, but how is he 169-0 and not #1 in the country?
Dont they compete nationally on occasion?
I am not aware of his Freestyle results or if he even has competed nationally at Fargo. I did a quick search and didnt find anything. and I am guessing that perhaps North HS does not attend big hs folk style meets such as the beast of the east or the iron man or 5 counties or even apple valley. i thought NHS competed in Tulsa nationals in the past though.

I’m not much of a wrestling fan so I don’t really know ****. But I guessing most of the national top 20-50 wrestlers have 2 or less losses and they’re subjectively ranked by their perceived level of competition. Wrestling fan can correct me if I’m mistaken…
Nash was a better wrestler imo. Kid was a monster in HS but for both wrestling in the state of SD and Nebraska aren't the best.
I'm hoping that they just stick Terry at NT and let him work on his craft for a few years. Nash didn't do much of anything for I think his first three years if I recall correctly. And then the light turned on for him and he was very tough. I'm hoping Terry follows the same path.
Saying Wrestling caused him to become "worse" is a bad take IMO.
The guy played Excellent and held his own in the toughest spot on that line and because he did so guys like Ty were able to excel at a high level... I would argue that it's more likely that increased attention from opposing offenses zeroing in on him brought his numbers down from 2023 NOT wrestling
As someone who played multiple sports with a torn ACL and shredded my knee to pieces in the process... I sure hope this kid didn't do too much damage playing through it.
Not sure if that's the sole reason but he definitely became worse after losing the weight and the wrestling deal for whatever reason.

Nash was nicked up for a chunk of the season, but did his job, which was to occupy as many blockers as possible and free up plays for the others. NU had the number 8 rushing D, and Nash was a key part of that.
Maybe it's a coincidence but let's not act like it didn't happen. He wasn't as good last year as he was the year before.
As far as the more attention one would have to take a deep dive into each snap to say that was the case. Logically though it would appear to most that Ty deserved every bit as attention this year and Nash did and Ty actually improved his game.
I'm not sure what exactly the reasons are but he wasn't the player this year as last AND it happened after the weight loss and wrestling so maybe it's low hanging fruit but I think it definitely could be plausible.

More than one thing can be true. I'm not disagreeing with much of anything that you said. I can't speak to the nicked up part but it's BIG football so I'm sure everyone was nicked up a bit. So I have no reason to doubt that
My point is everything you are saying he did he did the same LAST year as well BUT he did it at a higher level than this year. That's all...nothing more or less.

Don’t no **** about wrastlin and never watched him play football, but watching him wrestle didn’t scream explosive athlete
i will never believe you can maintane or increase your core strength by losing then regaining 30-40 lbs in 6 to 8 months time. he didn't look as talented to me last year as the year before. think he can have a long NFL career if placed in a stable good coaching environment.
