MY PICKS (Last Week 6-4, 22-8 on the season)
C.B. AYCOCK GOLDEN FALCONS 1-1 @ GOLDSBORO COUGARS 0-3
The Cougars scored their first points of the season last week in their 50-6 loss to Southern Wayne. Now here comes another County rival, and they're a little bit better than Southern Wayne. The Golden Falcons are coming off of an bye week, and they played Eastern Wayne tough in their last outing two weeks ago. So I expect this game will be over quick. CBA 48 G 0
NORTH JOHNSTON PANTHERS 1-2 @ (24)PRINCETON BULLDOGS 1-2
Both of these teams comes into this match up trying to stop their losing streak. Both have lost two in a row after winning their openers. The Panthers lost to Rosewood, I also picked the Bulldogs to beat Seaforth, but that didn't happen neither. The Panthers gave up over 300 yards rushing against Rosewood, and the Bulldogs had one player to go over 300 yards by himself against Seaforth. The Bulldogs defense did give up 70 points and over 400 yards passing. Well the Panthers passing game isn't sharp, they were 2 for 11 passing with only 8 yards. Look for the Bulldogs to dominate this game and rush for over 500 yards. I do believe that the Panthers will make it a competitive game for a while, then the Bulldogs will run away with it. NJ 22 P 58
HOBBTON WILDCATS 0-3 @ (19)ROSEWOOD EAGLES 1-2
The jury is still out on the Wildcats, we don't know exactly who they are. All of their three losses has come against bigger classification schools, and now they'll face a school their size. The Wildcats offense has been putting up points, but their defense hasn't been up to par yet. The Wildcats lost last week 36-30 against 5a Dixon, and the Eagles won their first game of the season over North Johnston. The Eagles defense has been playing good, but the Wildcats ground attack is great. They rushed for 398 yards in their loss to Dixon. This will be a big challenge for the Eagles defense, and I believe that they'll be ready for it. H 22 R 28
(6)MIDWAY RAIDERS 3-0 @ SOUTH JOHNSTON TROJANS 1-1
The Raiders offense is still rolling, and the Trojans are on the track to be the next team to be rolled over. The Raiders got tripped up in this match up last season falling 14-12 to theTrojans. They got caught looking ahead to their conference opener against Princeton. The Trojans defense has played well against the run this season, they haven't given up over 150 yards rushing in their two games. But their pass defense got blasted by Wilson Fike in their last outing two weeks ago. Fike passed for over 400 yards and added 8 touchdowns. That's not good, especially with the Raiders air raid passing attack coming to town. I don't think the Trojans will have enough to keep up, and the Raiders will avenge their loss to them last season. Look for Midway to keep on rolling. M 32 SJ 27
(11)PENDER PATRIOTS 2-0 @ (15)WALLACE ROSE HILL 1-2
The Bulldogs has let me down for the second time this season with their loss to Clinton last week. The Bulldogs are two good snaps away from being undefeated. They lost another classic defensive battle against Clinton 7-6. When your defense only gives up 7 points you expect to win. Seems like the Bulldogs needs to find an identity on offense, and they will have to do it against a Patriots team that hasn't given up a single point this season. Just how good are these Patriots! Well, the teams they have faced this season, one(Red Springs) of them haven't scored a single point this season, while the other one(West Bladen) has only scored 22 points through three games. Neither has won a game, both are 0-3. In their meeting last season the game went into overtime, and the Patriots walked away with a 32-26 victory. In that game the Bulldogs rushed for 298 yards, and the Patriots rushed for 317 yards. So which way do we go with this one, the Patriots are coming off of an bye week, and they should be ready to play. I believe that the Bulldogs has played better competition, and are more tested than the Patriots. The Patriots has the better offense, and I think that both defenses are about even. The Patriots have done what they are supposed to do against lesser competition, and the Bulldogs has played at the level of their competition. The Patriots are in need of a statement win to be taken seriously, and they'll have to do it in the Dog
Pound. A place where they haven't won at since 2012. My heart is telling me that the Bulldogs will show up and take care of business, while my mind is telling me that the Patriots defense will stop whatever offense the Bulldogs will come up with. I don't know why I'm going to do this, especially after the Bulldogs done let me down twice thus far, shoot, give me Wallace at home, in the Dog
Pound. P 20 WRH 21
GAME OF THE WEEK
(3)JAMES KENAN TIGERS
2-0 @ (14)EAST DUPLIN PANTHERS 3-0
Here we go, my Tigers
hit the road for the first time this season, and we'll cross the river into Panthers territory looking to stay undefeated, and take the Panthers 0. This is a county rivalry that goes way back, I believe my Tigers
holds the all time series lead 34-29, and looking for three straight victories. We haven't won three straight against the Panthers since 2012-2015 when my Tigers won four in a row. The Panthers comes into this match up after they handled Richlands last week 34-13. My Tigers
had a impressive performance against 5a heavyweight Southern Nash, defeating them 39-7. They made SN go to the air cause their ground attack was shut completely down. My Tigers
offense found a rhythm in the first half, scoring all 39 points before halftime. Now our focus turns to ED, a team that's not going to make a bunch of mistakes, a team that like to slow the game down and limit your possessions. The Panthers are battle tested, as they have won in a low scoring affair against WRH, 16-14 and they have won in a shootout against Princeton 40-34. My Tigers
have had basically two no contests, as they roared over Southern Wayne 49-6, and came prepared for a fight against SN, but they didn't want anything to do with the physical confrontation. I look for this to be a very physical game up front, and we'll see which team can out physical the other. My Tigers
are young and their youth has yet to show, and if it doesn't show in this one, then I expect my Tigers to dominate on both sides of the ball. If their youth does show up, then I expect the Panthers to carry my Tigers
in the deep end of the river. Nevertheless, we know that when it's ED with Battle Holley on the other sideline, you better be prepared for chest and not checkers. But I don't think that it matters, my Tigers have speed, and a lot of it. I think that we're going to roll in to Beulaville and paint the streets black and gold, and hopefully ED will bring out that little bell
trophy that them and Wallace play for and let us in on the little rivalry competition. I think that's only right, shoot we play the same Duplin County teams that they play. So don't leave us out, we just want to have the same opportunity to bring it back to Warsaw. Ijs! JK 28 ED 0
