In the end, it's not really just offense or just defense. The teams that win in March have a combination of both.
Yeah but through two Sweet 16 games teams are averaging 59 points. That’ll tell you which half of the combination is more critical.

Terrible coaching job to get beat in a close game without your All-American PG to the 2nd best team in CBB.

No one can make any excuses for Cal. Goes 9-16 with an entirely new roster in a restricted year for COVID. But that matters not. Cal has had more tournament wins at UK than Jay could dream of.

Jay Wright in Cal/UK years:

2010: 2nd round upset

2011: 1st round upset

2012: losing season, no tourney

2013: 1st round

2014: 2nd round upset

2015: 2nd round upset

2016: National Champs

2017: 2nd round upset

2018: National Champs

2019: 2nd round

2020: COVID

2021: Sweet 16

**Take away 2016 & 2018 & that's terrible! And like I said 2016 & 2018 was due to having 4 year guys & being one of the last major schools to start having early NBA entries.

He will never sniff another championship.

Neither will Cal now that he can't get the best of the best.

Jay Wright is a very good coach. He has a 65% winning percentage and has won 24 NCAA tournament games. Thats all.

Travis Ford or John Pelphrey should be our next coach. Fire Calipari immediately and hire one of those guys.
For the record it was Pitino who recommended those names after Tubby split. I haven’t seen many people on here pulling for either them, if any.

To be fair, neither will Cal. Will have to be 15 points better than the field to pull it off. Sad reality.

Statistically Cal has a much greater chance than Jay. Its not like Cal's teams have sucked post 2015. He has had 3 teams "capable" of winning it: 2017, 2019, 2020. 2 of those fell just shy of a final 4 & last year we'll never know.

2020 team had the components to make a deep run. Shot the 3 well. One of the best free throw shooting teams in the nation. Nick was playing great. 3 really good guards. Defended very well.

Duke lost Jordan Goldwire to transfer. Not saying UK should try to get him. Just that I saw that go across the ESPN ticker.
