Sunday morning after-thoughts

1. We really have to get off to better starts. We seem to spot teams 10-14 points to start every game. It's maddening, and it's not just the defense, the offense has started slowly as well.

2. That being said, even down 14-0, the team didn't seem to panic. Then the play calling improved and then we turn the game into a blowout.

3. Liked that the young RBs are getting increased playing time. Dear really looks like an RB and not a WR though.

4. I'm hoping the offense has finally turned the corner in terms of both play calls and execution. We need to keep this going against Kentucky this week and not let them hang around.

5. Is the offensive line beginning to play a bit better?

The problem with our offense is there isn't any room for error. It requires a ridiculously high level of execution to be effective.

when we run holloway or whoever up the middle, we are basically giving ourselves 2 downs to get 8 or 9 or 10 yards, and thus 2 downs instead of 3 to gain a first down. those plays have to stop.

And the even more frustrating part is Holloway is great on the edge. Get him in space and let him outrun some people.

Following up on that

When we were rolling last year we scored early and often. The lack of consistent running is a big reason that's not happening this year.

Holloway can pull some good runs and catches out every once in a while, but Lee or Williams needs to be getting the lion's share of the carries.

I wish we'd throw it downfield a little more often. We've got some big kids that can go up and get some balls.

For two weeks in a row, it seems like Ross didn't see a target after the 1st quarter. Not sure what's up with that.

Bryant is FAST. Really damn fast.
