It’s looking like the biggest threat today is centered from just north of Jackson and south to the LA state line and here in central MS we are at a Tor Con 7!

Where are are weather folks and storm chasers on SPS and what does it look like to you?

The HRRR is showing numerous supercells in the area you just described. I’d even go a little farther north to almost highway 82.

I actually like bad weather, but obviously it sucks because of how it can affect people. Simpson and Smith county are actually #1 and #2 in the country for tornado warnings, I believe. Or maybe they were at one time.

How warm is it down that way? We just got out of the 40s here with morning thunderstorms.

There is now, from Monroe to Alexandria, Louisiana then SW to a big hunk of Texas. Central/South Mississippi and Alabama will likely be next, maybe 2:00 or so.

There are some cells in N. Miss. now moving almost due east, but I don't think any are severe.

I'm in Jackson area and walked outside and it was eerily warm and humid. Had been pretty cool until yesterday afternoon. Temps are supposed to drop again once this storm comes through.

Just issued tornado watch until 7:00 for all of Central and south MS. It looks like the central point is along highway 84.

I'm currently sitting in Magee watching the storms. Think it'll be another couple hours before things get going good. Obviously hope the 82 play is too far north since I drove down here.

Is getting black as night near the reservoir and thunder is rumbling. It’s 72 here and feels cool so I’m wondering if there’s enough energy for twister. Hopefully not!

68 at my house in Madison just before the rain...the weather stations are showing low 80's in H'Burg

I don't know but I've heard all day the storms will be worse in the "warm sector"....whatever that is.

Mike Seidel/Weather Channel is live now from Pearl, MS, just east of Jackson. They're getting pounded with wind and rain and it's dark enough that the street lights are on.

It must have gotten pretty wet too. He sounded muffled in the last report. At least he wasn't pretending to be blown over by the wind like they were doing during hurricanes.

He didn't really need a mask since he was outside and there was no one else around.

TWC says apparent large tornado west of Purvis, MS. Going mostly east, and possibly showing debris.

Purvis is in path. Significant storm but may have lifted off ground or is passing through an empty field over last few minutes. Should be at purvis in 5 minutes.

They are saying this one is devastating again and is drifting to south Hattiesburg! Estimates of winds are 140-170!
