Is it legal to kill a snake? In Nebraska? It's not allowed in Virginia unless it is in a house or garage. Many other states protect their snakes. I almost stepped on one at night here three years ago. I'm pretty sure it was a non-poisonous black snake.
A little boy was bit about 10 years ago but it was a copperhead ... close to my place.

I have no idea what the laws are. But if there is a rattlesnake coiled up in front of my front door. Yeah he wouldn't be around long.

this is hillbilly ****, but a few years ago my grandpa had a bull snake crawl up into the wall of his cabin screened in porch, it flexed and popped the board off the wall and all he could see was a hoop of snake, shot it with 12 gauge. Said he didn't want to chance it losing it back down the wall.

A bull snake really? They are good they eat rats mice and other small animals. I have black rat snakes as long as Im not surprised by one I let them alone and you know what we don’t have any problems with mice

Not that I’m aware of, hell I’ve killed numerous snakes mowing grass. I know Texas has a law protecting I believe a timber rattler

I've been telling my Dad for years to stop killing every garter snake he sees. He was a big gardener and garter snakes are fantastic at eating a lot of what you don't want in your garden. But, he was like the garter snake terminator.

How would anyone know if you killed a snake or not? Like, what an insane law.

Does the dead snake have snake friends that report the dead snake as "missing"?

everyone and their mom says bull snakes are good, they even attack rattlers, yadda yadda

last I checked they're not on the endangered list and I have small kids/pets, so it's off with their heads around here

the cat takes care of the mice

I completely understand especially with young kids, my question is af you killed it did it keep moving? There’s a old wives tale that says a you kill a bull snake and it will keep moving till sun down. Btw I was driving a old tractor no cab up a vacant farmstead that had tree branches over the driveway I happened to look up and there was a big *** bull snake in tree! After that I always looked up when driving under trees

yes, it absolutely did

I killed it just before dusk and the body roiled and turned over for a good 30-45 minutes after I took its head off

tossed it over the fence into the empty field behind the house and I'm sure it was raptor food not long after

I was watching lone star law and the kid posted on Facebook pictures of the dead rattlesnake he killed, it happened to be a timber rattler which is protected in Texas, so the local game warden wrote him a ticket

I am deathly afraid of snakes, but I leave them alone. They stay hidden for the most part. They are doing the Lords work of eating the vermin.

We had a 6 foot corn snake a couple of years ago. He was doing an awesome job clearing out the moles.

I am only in favor of killing raccoons. They are real a holes. Some of the biggest dickheads in the animal kingdom

When I was 5 or 6 years old I was over at my grandparent's. For some reason there were a bunch of garter snakes in the yard. I'm not very wise in the way of the snake, I don't know why they were all together, but they were kind of balled up.

My grandpa knew how to deal with this, wasn't his first rodeo. He went back into the shed, fired up his old push mower (no guards or anything) and ran over every one of those things.

It was surprisingly efficient and absolutely disgusting at the same time. He never batted an eye.

I'll never forget it.

Had one swim up to us on Merritt while fishing in a boat many years ago. That was pure panic.

Seen a couple golfing at the prairie club . Didn’t really want to go introduce myself so left them alone.

Just killed a decent size copperhead last week. Was in the neighbors yard, but got the Mother****er.
years ago one made its into my place of employment and was 2 feet away from me but luckily got dazed by a closing door. I had the cleaning crew kill it with a trashcan and broom stick

They are sneaky bastards here in North Carolina. Hard to see and always seem to sneak up on you.

My in-laws use to live just outside Waterford, VA. No one ever saw a live snake in their very nice, finished basement, but every once in a while, they would find an old skin that a snake had shed. I always kept my feet up on a stool when I watched tv down there.

We have a lot of rattlesnakes here in Eastern Washington. I know people you live next to dry, rocky hillsides who have to chase them out of the garage. They will scurry into a garage on hot days to get out of the sun. I hunt quail and chukar in sagebrush covered, dry, rocky ground. I never see them, but sometimes early in the season I hear them rattle. There is no guessing what is rattling. You know immediately it is a rattlesnake.

Two summers ago our family was doing the Mad Creek Trail hike by Steamboat and my oldest son damn near stepped on a rattler. It scared the hell out of me, it was RIGHT there. I have a video of the snake and it still freaks me out. I fully admit we were being "idiot tourists" to the full by being completely unaware of the danger. It was 5ish feet long and rattling like a bastard.

I seen a snake curled up ontop of the water at merit, but it looked black, not a rattler..I just brushed against it with one of merits rental boats....I was at hills dale in kansas on the dam rocks (fishing)..and watched snake for a half hour try to swallow a dead blue gill in-between the rocks and pull it into the lake..but his mouth was just a lil too small..

They stink a lawn mower deck too when you track them down and drop the deck down to zero. "Thump, thupp sspprrtt" and they be no more. I went into the basement in an old farmhouse I owned and a huge garter snake was laying on a foundation ledge. Couldn't find a tool to off him quick but I spotted a can of starting fluid and gave it a good dose. It descended into Hell after a few seconds of writhing.
