While the priority is finding a coach who can build and sustain a winning program capable of being in the Top 4 of the B1G, I think we should consider requiring (or having incentives) that the coach help with marketing the program as well. While winning will help with attendance, WBB should be a revenue generating sport that can at least cover its own costs. My sense is CVS never felt that was her responsibility, whereas I think Pikiell was much more active in trying to build support for the mens program.

WBB is virtually never a revenue generating sport that covers its own costs. I have heard of maybe a couple programs in the black, but rarely. At one time, UConn was, but they haven't been for a long time. Among the issues is the payouts from tournaments.

No coach is taking marketing as a part of their contract. They don't. Their job is to perform in the marketing opportunities that the marketing department sets up for them. They can make suggestions, of course, and if you have a coach that likes to go out and be social and has charisma that's a plus. We have that here in Arizona - Adia has charisma and, especially through her charitable efforts has generated quite a following.

Watching the South Carolina Georgia game. Amazing what Staley has built there. And she wanted to be at RU before her stint at Carolina.
