That's why I almost always cite/link to the NWS. But I get that a lot of people don't want to "work" for their weather info, which is why the weather threads and my FB weather posts and my emails to friends/family and my posts to a weather site I created at work years ago (which over 1500 people subscribe to) seem to be pretty popular. Way more popular than I ever thought they'd be. Many keep telling me to start a blog. Might need to anyway, as I near retirement and folks from work have asked about how to get thier "fix" after that - maybe just a separate FB page, who knows...
This is the only place I get trolled, due to the anonymity, I assume. I've never minded the legitimate arguing, like bac and I and a few others often do and I don't think they do either, as that's all fair game to me - it's a friggin' message board where people argue about ****. The political argument we had, yesterday/today was the first time that's ever happened and while I personally have no issue with it, some posters clearly do and the mods do, so I'll try not to participate in that again in a weather thread - sorry. The troll posts are annoying and I should probably just ignore them, but as my wife has said, I like to argue for sport, so ignoring is hard (I don't use the ignore function).
With regard to other OT topics, I don't see the big deal in some of them being overtly or obliquely political, but they do seem to get into insult-filled pissing matches, like almost all CE threads do, very quickly. It's kind of sad how polarized things have become in this country and this board, so I get the mods not wanting threads like that on the football board. I actually kind of like how the mods will let a new, interesting social/politiical topic get discussed for a day or so, until it gets a bit nasty and then they move it to the CE board - at least these topics get some air time in that way. Mods have a tough job.
