I'm sure I'm not alone in becoming increasingly frustrated with threads that start out with a compelling topic, but get hijacked by someone who brings it completely off topic, or by two people who turn it into their own personal pissing match. My suggestion: anyone who does the above should be suspended from posting for one month.

But if we ban @bac2therac and @RU848789 from the weather threads, who will predict the weather? @DJ Spanky ? Can they get special dispensation?

It does happen a lot, and I'm also getting tired of it.

Just use the “Report” function. We don’t always read every thread right away. But we do go over everything that gets reported.

There are going to be a flood of different ideas on this thread, i fear it will end up in ashes.

That's why I almost always cite/link to the NWS. But I get that a lot of people don't want to "work" for their weather info, which is why the weather threads and my FB weather posts and my emails to friends/family and my posts to a weather site I created at work years ago (which over 1500 people subscribe to) seem to be pretty popular. Way more popular than I ever thought they'd be. Many keep telling me to start a blog. Might need to anyway, as I near retirement and folks from work have asked about how to get thier "fix" after that - maybe just a separate FB page, who knows...

This is the only place I get trolled, due to the anonymity, I assume. I've never minded the legitimate arguing, like bac and I and a few others often do and I don't think they do either, as that's all fair game to me - it's a friggin' message board where people argue about ****. The political argument we had, yesterday/today was the first time that's ever happened and while I personally have no issue with it, some posters clearly do and the mods do, so I'll try not to participate in that again in a weather thread - sorry. The troll posts are annoying and I should probably just ignore them, but as my wife has said, I like to argue for sport, so ignoring is hard (I don't use the ignore function).

With regard to other OT topics, I don't see the big deal in some of them being overtly or obliquely political, but they do seem to get into insult-filled pissing matches, like almost all CE threads do, very quickly. It's kind of sad how polarized things have become in this country and this board, so I get the mods not wanting threads like that on the football board. I actually kind of like how the mods will let a new, interesting social/politiical topic get discussed for a day or so, until it gets a bit nasty and then they move it to the CE board - at least these topics get some air time in that way. Mods have a tough job.

I don't know why you bother arguing with the detractors in the weather threads. Your posts stand on their own merit.

The reason you get trolled is because you can't ignore them. You say you argue for sport, well some folks, enjoy poking fun at people they believe are overly sensitive. No biggie. I had a few people trolling me, so I made up the ruse that I have them on ignore. They still trolled me for a month or two, I never responded, and they finally gave up. Even dogs can be trained! :)

Just relax a bit more and enjoy the dynamic on the board, have a laugh. Bottom line, I know you are a good guy, enough people on this board that I respect, respect you. That's good enough for me. And I know that no matter what you say, you love the power of ICE.....

.....I mean, Vanilla Ice:

I love chocolate covered Pretzels
I can't stand this whole "salty chocolate" craze that's going on. Chocolate is chocolate. Leave it alone.
***THREAD HIJACK ALERT***
That’ll be one month for you!
I'm a chocolate purist - don't need salt in it or fruit covered by it either.
Sea Salt Caramel.

If you haven’t. You must.

If you have and you don’t like. I don’t like you.

KyK has a new DL coach thread starting since this one is not going to cut it before he has started.
