Stupid Wifi extender Q

If I get wifi extenders for my house, is it as simple as everything uses the same login as you walk between the two or is there two separate discovery/logins required?

Do they work well?

I have a Netgear dual band router and as it is in a back bedroom and performance on the other side of the house could be a bit "iffy" at times. As a result I coupled it with compatible dual band Netgear Range Extender on the far side of the house. Set-up is super easy, you simply push a button on the item you want to connect to your router and then push a corresponding button on your router and they automatically connect. (You have about 60-90 seconds to return to your router to accept the connection request.) They will both use the same passwords and basically act as a single unit once connected.

I've had this system set up for about 2 yrs now and I've never had to reset or sign-in, with the range extender. Even if the router doesn't get a signal or power goes out, they reset and reconnect themselves automatically.

For simplicity sake, I would suggest using the same brand router and extender as there are some issues between getting different brands to work well with others.

BTW, with Netgear both units, once connected will share WPS and both be secured (protected) on your network. I also use compatible netgear USB adapters to connect my wireless system to computers, etc. for much the same reason.

Don't get a repeater. Get a router with a MoCA extender. You won't have degradation of speed.

I get the same internet connection speed with my computer that's connected to my range extender as my son does with his computer connected directly to the router. (about 60 mbps download and about 8 mbps upload.)

Of course my set-up is a bit over 2 yrs old now, so it's probably a dinosaur in comparison to the newest and greatest on the market today.

Any suggestions on options w AT&T U-verse router? I have a port connected to an older router on the far side of the house but the speed is abysmal off that daisy chain.
