Not trying to take up for Dingledoofus Pride, but why didn't Huggs sign Jarrod West since his dad played under Cat 20 years ago?

I don’t watch or even follow basketball but one theory could be West wrote a book about his time under leather jacket and it wasn’t very flattering. It told how leather jacket was really a jerk to a lot of his players.
Now I don’t mean Bobby Knight on Neil Reed style. I mean more demeaning and verbally threatening/intimidation for after players were done playing for him. He threatened to ruin players for European Ball and other leagues. It was controlling and demeaning and signs of a pathetic coach IF TRUE!
Idk I always thought Leather Jacket could be a real jerk despite the charm & smile in the Walker Machinery tv ads. I saw a few practices over the years.
The book was reportedly something that West said ‘he had to do to get closure’. It also maybe made him Kryptonite to maybe some people. Idk. Honestly idk.
Another theory of equal likelihood could be Huggins didn’t want the son of a guy who knocked down a buzzer beater in 96 to upset the bearcats and Huggy Bear in the NCAA tournament and keep them out of the sweet 16.

The younger West is currently a freshmen star at Clarksburg Notre Dame High School. Huggs will sign him. He’s a huge star in the making just like RCB 9th grade RB, DB Jeremiah King. King is a Clarksburg kid and West lives in Bridgeport, WV. Both of these kids are 2 of the top freshmen in the state. Real deal. WV talent on rise.
By the way Jarod West is the head coach of his son at Notre Dame High School in Clarksburg, WV. Great story. He loves WV. I think West at Marshall is a good fit. I don’t think Huggs wanted him. The younger one is the best one. They trained him hard.

In another recruiting cycle, he may be a kid that we would've taken a longer look at, but we already had Knapper in the fold, and Knapper was at the time better in every facet of the game. That's not a knock on West, either. Knapper had top 150, top 100 type of skill. West didn't.
WVU can't land every in-state recruit. Sometimes we fill a particular position or need with better players. Sometimes the situation just isn't the right fit for their playing skills. Sometimes the kids just want to expose themselves to other parts of the country. That's all good.

Nor do we need to. I've read it on EVERY board people repeating the same thing. There is NO way we would win the B12 with nothing but in-state kids.

Don't you realize we'd be national champs in FB and BB if we just signed all the 5-star WV kids?
Yea It slipped my mind. When Dave Wannstedt said they needed to "build a wall around Pittsburgh" and Howard Schnellenberger said "there's enough kids in Miami to win a national championship", it was interpreted that the same can happen in WV. Shockingly those schools still recruit other cities....why is that? Hmmmmm
