Rhule made practice a bit more "secure"

Purdy is by far the best pure pocket passer on the team. He might get in.

Trick plays added in for this week and Kemp should be back and 100%.

Ruggeroli was on an unofficial. (I have no clue who that is)

The Kienholz family was in attendance at the Purdue game. (no idea at all who that is either)

White has no interested in USC but does have interest in a HC gig.

And again, no clue if this stuff is accurate.

Ruggeroli I think is an OT they like. White would be foolish to take a lower tier head coaching job versus being our DC. He’ll likely get a significant raise, can make as much as our DC and not have the BS to deal with he would have as a head coach. Stability at NU I think has to be very attractive

I suppose it might just depend on the money?

Might be a good game to try Purdy out. The consensus being that we’ll need to put up numbers to beat Maryland and the current setup has shown little promise. We haven’t seen Purdy under this staff, under this system. I would still be worried about pass protection but it should at least look better against Maryland.

There’s non-monetary considerations. I had a friend who was a FCS head football coach and another who was a P5 volleyball assistant head coach. Job stability and not having to move every few years were big factors for them. Ultimately the volleyball coach opted for a small college head coaching gig in South Dakota because he wanted job stability. He wanted to raise a family in a smaller city and have more hunting opportunities. I’ve lost track of the football coach as he eventually got fired and I think ended up coaching at a large high school in Florida.

Totally agree. I was sort of forced into a HC role years ago and I hated it, I hated all the stupid stuff that came with it and I found out I was horrible at delegating. I could not wait for it to be over.

I went from that to coaching 9th grade FB at a new school. The HC who I knew a bit thought I was coming there and asking to coach varsity ball, when I told him I wanted to just be a freshmen asst his eyes popped out of his head and could not have said yes fast enough. He goes "Really, no one wants to coach freshmen football".

NW qb looked great against Maryland after looking like crap against us. I'm hoping HH looks just as good. If he struggles and we are in danger of losing then I think you give Purdy 2 series end of the 1st half and or start of 2nd half.

"Purdy is by far the best pure pocket passer on the team. He might get in."

Whatever & whoever can get this offense moving more consistently. Whether that's HH, Sims, or Purdy today I don't care.

I still hold out some hope that given a friendly home game, and starting out at mid-field or better, Sims might help this offense out.

I just hope we’re not forced to throw somebody in there on a short notice injury substitution. Those almost never go well.

Kienholz family would be the family of the SD QB who went tOSU this year. He would be a 4 year guy. Would be a nice pick up.

Purdy might practice just fine, but it's the pressure of the game that he can't handle. He's a disaster on game day.

He’s #2 at OSU last I saw. Not sure he will be an option. His high school just won their 7th state championship in a row last night. They have a tremendous coach.

I think Ruggeroli is the backup plan at OT for Brix, which is why it was an unofficial visit. I wish we would take both.

I tend to agree on White, but he wants to be a HC someday, so that is our biggest risk of losing him.

And how about that Kienholz news!

Have to think he’d have committed by now if he liked Raiola & had some sort of confidence in him being here longterm

He wants to be a Husker, which is why he hasn’t committed elsewhere, so it makes sense to me to wait and see who his position coach will be

Based on Rhule's style even if OL coach got canned the guy is waiting is likely an analyst right now. Unless he was lying about that.
Has Rhule ever hired an analyst after firing his OL coach following year 1, which he’s done at both previous college stops?

Answer: no.

Lying about what? I don’t recall him saying he would promote analysts if he loses coaches.

I can’t believe I actually read something that included Sims after what he had shown. Purdue series should have been icing on the cake. He IS NOT a capable option unless we want him to score points for the other team and 0 for us.

I may not remember this correctly. But he said after the TE coach was let go that he has coaches waiting in the wings as analysts or backup staff to take over when coaches leave. Not sure if I am remembering that right.

He was probably just talking about emergency situations, like losing your TE coach right before the season starts.
