Great comeback win tonight. Props to the players and coaches for staying the course and believing they could do it. And, kudos to Geo for being so clutch. But, WTF is up with th students? The “sold out” student section was almost 1/4 empty. The RAC was great tonight because the much maligned old folks court side stood and screamed the entire home stretch and in OT. That does not happen anywhere else in the Big 10. I don’t ever want to hear about the old farts in section 114. The students who were there were great, but the hundreds of no shows should have their tickets revoked.

I think that the students kind of pack it in or squeeze toward the center. They do the same thing at football games. They don't mind invading each others space. I think that there are much fewer no shows than you think.

I still stand by my thoughts on this after seeing them up close. Our students would do well in clown car or phone booth packing competitions.
They’ve been jammed to the middle section for the last 5 games and there has never been anywhere near the amount of vacant seats as there was tonight. There are only 1500 student tickets for a school with 30,000+ students. Absolutely no excuse not to fill the entire section. If they crowd in, sell more tickets.
Definitely has not always been like that.
Go look at our early 2000s games on YouTube. Filled all the way to the top with students packed in all wearing scarlet.
We use to double up and have all 3 sections MOBBED plus the 300’s. Tonight was pathetic.
this this...and we had to wait for tix at the RAC on the first monday in each month for tix starting at 8...the line wrapped down the hallway of the rac and if you didnt get their early...(remember you had to gather everyone ids because we used to sit in our seats back then), if you didnt you were forced up to the 300s and no one wanted to be there
The ones there are great but I am befuddled why on a Sunday at 630 we arent jam packing them like sardines, I wonder if RU should be releasing more tix to them
The student section was weak last night. The kids that were there were great, but lots of empty seats. Why do they not have dedicated buses that leave 15 mins after the end of the game to bring students back to the other campuses? Having to wait potentially 20 mins outside for a bus on a Feb night is a bit of a deterrent.
FWIW I think the game was played too late for a Sunday. A Sunday game should never be later than 3.
I took advantage of those empty seats and moved down from the 300's for the 2nd half. So there was at least one old folk in that section.
We need to bring back the football recruits in that section. Hopefully Schiano has something good planned for the next home game.
Because Northwestern is a last place team? Not an exciting draw for students.
I liked when Harper was about to defend the in bounds pass and got the Q-Tips to stand up and cheer. Good times!
If the old folks can't stand and cheer give them pom poms to shake around! This isn't a cemetery plot, ya know?

I think there is a good core of student fans, but there is no depth..lol
agree that the section used to be more packed in early 2000s-late 90s. We also had more chants in unison and overall unified approach. The section to the left of the middle had students sitting when it was looking a little hopeless last night.

I know this has been talked about but there is absolutely no excuse not to move the student section closer to the court... I hope next season this happens... I was also a little disappointed with the student turnout last night.. could of been better!!
Where are you going to put the 50 cheerleaders and dance team members then?
